Cafferty says the "cone of silence" controversey is overshadowing the forum!
He went on to say his answers sounded a bit too "pat" and he couldn't believe some people criticized Obama for being TOO thoughtful! He then said that when McCain said his greatest failure was his first failed marriage, he didn't say enough. He wanted to hear WHY the marriage failed. Stephen Hayes, also on the panel, was shaking his head the entire time. It was a great thing to see. I hope MORE people felt the way Cafferty did.

1. McCain gives one sentence to explain his greatest failure. How not humble!
Guess we are supposed to just skate over his greatest failure.....

3. And it wasn't an explanation at all. It was a partial answer, leaving out WHY his marriage failed..
unlike Obama, who fully explained WHY he used drugs. Of course McCain (and Obama) were supposedly TOLD they'd be asked about their greatest moral failure, so McCain carefully crafted that non-answer. And of course, no follow-up.

2. Jack is right.
McCain made it sound as if the marriage just failed on its own. He should just admit that he abandoned his wife for a better looking and wealthier alternative. His wedding vows meant nothing to him. How can anyone trust that his oath of office would mean anything?

6. He sure IS. And the Dems. should point the truth out! Did you happen to see the ad
from the religious group that was supposed to talk about how good a family man Obama is? I didn't see it!

4. The joke about the "cone of silence" on Get Smart was that it worked just about as well as
this latest version apparently did. Mel Brooks and Buck Henry should sue for breach of copyright.

5. Was Cindy's greatest moral failing living with a married man?
How sweet, they're EACH OTHER'S greatest moral failing!

10.  I had an earlier post blaming Warren for the compound question
format which allowed McCain to spend 80% of his response on America's failings and barely mention his unfaithfulness and desertion of his first wife. This was arguably the issue that should have given St. John as much trouble in front of this audience as the abortion question was for Barack
And even with a helping hand from Warren, the answer sounded like " mistakes were made". The marriage didn't fail. His first wife did not fail. St, John McCain cheated, lied and failed.

12. You're exactly right...
Warren let him get away with saying as little as he wanted about his greatest personal moral failing.

11. Only in modern US politics would a politician be criticized for being too "thoughtful".
It's sad we have come to that in this country. However, I do believe the majority, albeit a slim majority, do not see it that way and do appreciate Obama's thoughtful and sincere approach to complex issues.

13. I know. And quite a few people made the same comment-that Obama was too thoughtful but
McCain was direct and crisp, showing HE'S a LEADER but Obama's a professor. :eyes:
