O' Neill - what month did he take over Kerry's Swift Boat-need info
Anyone here know? Have a link? I stumbled across a site the other night that looked like an amateur site that listed Swift Boat info and had Swift Boats listed with crews, dates, emails, etc. I call it amateur because while it listed Kerry with the 40 something boat he was on (at work don't have time to look up exact #) it didn't list him on the 94. However it did show O' Neill and listed that he started his command on it in Sept 69 which was months after Kerry left.

And does anyone have month Kerry left the 94?

TIA.

1. March or April '69

UPDATING:

He got his 3rd PH in mid-March 1969, and left the country by early April, so O'Neill definitely missed him by several months.

Anyone know the "average turnover rate" or time-on-assignment for swift boat crewmembers?

For a complete and accurate description of Kerry's Thrice Wounded Reassignment, Campaign Desk directs its readers to the Associated Press, which, this time, gets it exactly right where others got it wrong :

After the third Purple Heart, the Navy was required to reassign Kerry out of Vietnam, and a document dated March 17, 1969, said Kerry requested duty as a personal aide in Boston, New York or the Washington area. Kerry could have volunteered to stay in Vietnam, but left the country in early April 1969.

2. Kerry's last Purple Heart was late Feb I believe
As I said, I'm at work. I know he went to the Swift Boats late 68. I'm interested to see how many months elapsed between Kerry leaving and O' Neill getting that command. O' Neill leaves the impression in interviews he took over right after Kerry.

Anyone got him in a hard statement on this?
