There Is A MILLIONAIR In My Office: Lifelong Repuke - VOTING KERRY
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 09:58 AM by matcom
this guy (SERIOUSLY) makes on average $50k / MONTH (Mortgage Broker). He just told me that for the first time in his life he is voting (Dem) Kerry.

i *snickered* and asked if he wasn't worried about his tax cut (he IS the top 1%)

he told me that he doesn't care about his money. says he has too much as it is. can't spend it fast enough. so i ask why he changed this year.

IRAQ

Quote: "That m*therf*cker lied to us and we got 1000 boys DEAD. if his goal was to kill Sadaam that would have been fine with me. But he blew smoke up my ass and we should be out of there now. i REFUSE to support an idiot liar!"

yes, he is quite angry. *sigh* at least SOMEONE gets it

1. I wish my dad would get it.
He is not THE top 1% but is probably close. He won't vote Kerry because, "He wants to raise my taxes." Funny, he is a trial lawyer.

I will keep working on him.

5. Ask your dad when the last time he heard a Presidential candidate say
he wanted to raise his own taxes?

Not from Bush. Bush ran on, pretty much, cutting his own taxes, not really anybody else's. Sure, he claimed it in the campaign, but we warned America that he was blowing smoke up our asses . . .

It needs to be pounded into the pins of the pinheads that Kerry is actually raising the taxes on himself and his wife, something you never hear about. (While Clinton raised taxes on the top level, he barely qualified, since he claimed that he never became a millionaire until he left the Oval Office.)

7. That won't matter to dear old dad.
He doesn't give a crap about Kerry's taxes, my taxes, or anyone else's for that matter. All he cares about are his own. He cares so much that he will deal with smirky/snarly berating his profession (he isn't an ambulance chaser but he is tort lawyer) just so he doesn't have to pay more in taxes. Typical republican...it is all about them and not what is best for the country.

9. I know. I remind him that the irony doesn't escape me.
He is totally non religious as well. Another reason he should reject smirky. He doesn't like all of this religion in politics, but damnit! He doesn't want his taxes raised!

ROTFLMAO right along with ya!

4. This is NOT unusual
My wife works with high net worth individuals, and they bring up their dislike for Chimpy all the time.

NOTE: My wife has NOTHING in her office that indicates her/our political preferences - these folks bring it up on their own.

Times be changing, yes they are.

6. A lot of those from the upper income groups are leaving Bush.
Bush is relying on the dumbshit and bubba votes to get re-elected. He is relying on the types who don't care about facts in order to win.

10. How can anyone in the investor class vote for Bush?
Have they seen how crappy the equity markets are? The rich are starting to see who really serves their self interest. It's not a moron who gives them a tax cut, while destroying the economy that kills the investments made with that tax cut. The tax cut wouldn't even cover the difference of the dollar v. euro on thier next Paris holiday.

11. Just like my SO
I'm a lifelong Democrat/Independent/AnythingbutRepublican. My Significant Other is a lifelong Republican - never been anything else. He's also a succesful broker and can really rake in the dough. However - he hates Bush and his 'posse' to the point of barely contained rage. Even if Bush had never done anything like vanity invasions, courting environmental disaster, or religious zealotry - he thinks Bush is a total idiot when it comes to all things financial.

I'm so proud!

15. tell him to send some money to moveon....
I asked my father once, who is a one issue republican (taxes, if he would give up his tax cut if he could have his 401k back to where it was under Clinton and he said he would. Strong words from a man that concedes nothing.
