Ginsberg, attorney for the Bush campaign, resigned the Bush campaign because he has beens advising the SBVs.

Bush Campaign's Top Outside Lawyer Advised Veterans Group
By JIM RUTENBERG and KATE ZERNIKE

The Bush campaign's top outside lawyer said Tuesday that he had given legal advice to the group of veterans attacking Senator John Kerry's Vietnam War record and antiwar activism in a book, television commercials and countless appearances on cable news programs.

The lawyer, Benjamin L. Ginsberg, said that the group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, called him last month to ask for his help and that he agreed. Mr. Ginsberg said that he had yet to work out payment details with the group and that he might consider doing the work pro bono.

16. Ginsberg of Florida recount fame....
"Bush campaign lawyer Ben Ginsberg said the ruling allowing Harris to enforce the deadline will help provide a definite end to the process. Otherwise, Ginsberg said, Democrats would push for recount after recount "until they get a count that they like."

"The secretary of state will look at the processes by which those counts are developed, and if they are in line consistent with Florida law, that's the count she'll take," Ginsberg said. "If they're sort of the magnificent process of divining ballots by partisans, then she'll have to make a judgment."

Bush's campaign immediately renewed calls for Gore to accept the results as reported by Harris, wait for the absentee ballots to come in by Friday -- which Republicans expect will favor Bush -- and "abide by those results," campaign spokeswoman Karen Hughes said. The Gore campaign rejected a similar offer Tuesday from Bush's top lieutenant in Florida, former Secretary of State James Baker."

14. So What...He's Still Slime & Still Somewhere In The Machine
Ginsburg is one of those shadow operatives...a longtime RNC "fixer". This guy is literally like a rat...shine a light on him, he'll go running for another hole.

He's an "outside" "consultant"...thus this "resignation" means zero. All he'll do is have his secretary change the name on the file and the account number and get back on the phone with Rove, Scaiffe and the rest.

This shyster fed a lot of dirt and played conduit between the "independent counsul" and the merry pranksters...during the Clinton Inquisition and find any Repugnican dirty trick or scandal over the past two decades and this scum is never too far away.

The game here is to see what rat hole he runs to...who he "works with" next...follow this goon and you can put one hell of a road map together on the organization and funding of a lot of these slime operations. No vast right wing conspiracy? Meet it's consigliere!

It's All Window Dressing
Just like Sandy Berger was banished by the Kerry campaign (wink, wink...he's just calling from someone elses' cellphone now)...these resignations are just PR things that are damage control. I'll believe we really have drawn blood when I see changes inside the Rove machine itself. Then things could get REAL interesting.

I wish we were that far along. We're climbing a huge wall here. First, we've had to "clense ourselves" of Clinton and Gore, come together and start shaking people up from the grassroots.

Since the Iraq invasion, I've felt a swing toward putting past "prejudices" (and please not the " on these terms) of Democrats and starting to question this regime. The tide has begun to pick up momentum in the past 2 months (F/911 helped a great deal!) and we're seeing a cultural "revolution" (my term!) like I haven't experienced since the 70's.

Up to this point, it's been getting our own act together, now we're starting to flex muscle that others can't deny and soon will glom onto. This is what really has this regime scared and why you're starting to see "neutrals" (or opportunists) like Tweety and McLaughlin start appearing to move toward "our side" as they start to openly question what many of us have been among ourselves for months.

There's a goldmine of stuff to come out about this regime that is bottled up and about to come loose. For many here on DU this will be old news, but many will hear and see these things in a fresh light or for the first time.

The "swifties" just changed the current...and looks like it's about to flood Crawford. Enjoy...good days are ahead.

Bush lawyer who advised veterans group quits campaign

By SHARON THEIMER, Associated Press

Last Updated: August 25, 2004, 08:40:29 AM PDT

WASHINGTON (AP) - An election lawyer for President Bush who also has been advising a veterans group running TV ads against Democrat John Kerry resigned Wednesday from Bush's campaign.

"I cannot begin to express my sadness that my legal representations have become a distraction from the critical issues at hand in this election," Benjamin Ginsberg wrote in a resignation letter to Bush released by the campaign.

"I feel I cannot let that continue, so I have decided to resign as national counsel to your campaign to ensure that the giving of legal advice to decorated military veterans, which was entirely within the boundaries of the law, doesn't distract from the real issues upon which you and the country should be focusing."

Ginsberg's acknowledgment Tuesday evening that he was providing legal advice to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth marked the second time in days that an individual associated with the Bush-Cheney campaign had been connected to the group, which Kerry accuses of being a front for the Republican incumbent's re-election effort.
