Rove/Cheney Gay Ploy
With Cheney coming out (so to speak) and endorsing states rights in the issue of Gay Marriage the Bush campaign has accomplished the following:

1. Diverted Attention away from Swift Boat backfire

2. Validated big tent notion of the Republican Party being a party of many different backgrounds and positions. Nullifying Log Cabins complaints.

3. Enforced the illusion that Bush is really in charge as Cheney can now state that Bush is the one who sets policy.

8. Not a chance
Next week is a tent revival, heavy on the pseudo Christian bullshit and country music, light on issues (of which they have none). They're trying to get the old time intolerant religious crowd, and don't give a rip about anyone else.

Cheney's daughter will be as welcome as a turd in a punchbowl. Her father just made that statement to lull the Log Cabiners into supporting the party that will strip their human rights every time.

3. Vote for us! We're just as "conflicted" about gays as you are!
The Bush*/Cheney/Rove learning curve is based solely on field polling.

What a crock!

7. Clever? Then so is setting himself on fire
1. The only attention that gets diverted is the right wing haters who are condemning him, and that to his second flip flop on this exact same issue.

2. The big tent idea is hardly validated by Cheney stating that he will back Bush's attempts to degrade his daughter because Bush is boss.

3. Nobody says that Bush made the decision. He just relied on Rove, not Cheney, for this one. Big deal,.

9. Appearances, appearances

Appearances are everything for these Bozos. Your thoughts of Cheney setting himself on fire though did provide a strangely disturbing satisfying mental visual for me.

11. Tell all this gay nonsense to his base
You know, the base that totally hate anything about gay people wanting a great life together. They spent so much time and money playing into the hate message for their base, there is NO WAY the can try to expect people to feel they are OPEN to everyone in America. The repukes are a party of division and hate, nothing more!

12. It's their way of keeping the gay issue in our minds.
It got lost when the Swifty thing started.

OR

Could this be the issue that separates Cheney from Bush - enough so that Bush now has a reason to ask Cheney to step down - and Bush saves face?
