At their 2000 convention, they were having different nights to showcase different ethnic groups' support for Bush. The Black Gospel choir they had on African-American night was only there so they could be on television according to the leader, and I met the Hispanic kids they had up on stage - they were Mexican nationals living in Juarez who went to the University of Texas in El Paso. They were approached by the Bush team and asked if they would like to go to Philadelphia on an all expenses paid trip to learn more about the American political system. They of course said yes, got bussed (not flown) to Philly, and trotted up on stage when W's Latino nephew, George P. introduced them.
