6. Well, the article tells us it's not HRC, that's one step. Clark crossed my mind as a fit. n/t

9. Oh I hope so
I've been holding out for Clark the whole time. I can live with Biden and would enthusiatically support that ticket but a Clark pick would make my day.

11. On the statement Webb came to mind first. But, Webb says no. For that reason I see Clark. n/t

3. It's probably Biden, but...
The quotes from Obama in the article did cause me to consider the idea it might be Clark for the first time ever.

Long shot, but who knows...

5. I get a little Biden and Bayh there ...
I do agree that the general would fit in there very snuggly, but nothing seems to point in his direction ...

I am not predispositioned to Biden (though I am warming up to him in the slot), but he seems to be who fits - Bayh a little in the not grabbing press (which is, of course, where Biden doesn't fit so much) ... But, the not having a yes man thing, to me, reeks of Biden ... I think he would be a GREAT VP from the perspective of speaking his mind while totally respecting BO as the final word ...

7. I Was Thinking That, But I'm Obviously Biased.
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 06:25 AM by Dinger
"I try to surround myself with people who are about getting the job done, and who are not about ego, self—aggrandizement, getting their names in the press..."
Wes Clark gets the job done (Kosovo)

"I think people will see that I'm not afraid to have folks around me who complement my strengths..."
From the article: "Obama is both gifted and precise in the way he uses language. Here, interestingly, the word he chooses is "complement," not "supplement" or "augment." This would suggest that this choice will be someone who has experience or expertise that Obama himself lacks." (As in Clark being a veteran . . .) The word "compliment" is interesting, and a good choice of words. They both have gravitas, but Clark's does compliment Obama's, that's for sure.

"I'm not a believer in a government of yes—men." Clark sure as hell was not a yes man (Kosovo)

I could be wrong, and probably am, but as I read this, these thoughts (above) came to mind, but like I said, I am biased.

8. Another Point,
As far as not being a "government yes man on something big," the author mentions the Iraq War and Evan Bayh. Yes, the Iraq War is "big", but even though Clark has been anti- Iraq War, he did support someone else, and I think that's big too.

4. If Obama's statements in this article are telling, then HRC has absolutely NO CHANCE.
It actually looked like an HRC slam on all fronts. I haven't a clue, I actually thought Sebelius fit the mold. The perfect candidate in my eyes would have been Jim Webb to tell you the truth. He fit exactly what he was looking for. However, I think this is up for grabs for any of the main short list individuals except for Clinton.
