Campaign Underground: Check out the Local Media Blaster!

We've finally finished programming the long-awaited Local Media Blaster. Now you can send blast-emails to media outlets from all over your state! Contact local media quickly and easily. Send feedback or letters to the editor to TV, radio, and newspapers!

Often, local media can be a much more direct and effective way to get our message out. Unlike national media, many small local media outlets will publish virtually anything they get -- providing a way to get our message directly to voters.

Soon, we hope to organize an independent Letter to the Editor campaign for DU members, which will use the media blaster to help get our message out.

Help us build our database of local media outlets. We still need to collect lots of email addresses for different local media outlets. Some states have well over a hundred media outlets in our database, but others only have two or three. If you want to help out with any state, just go to that state's media page and look for the link that says "Help us build our database of local media! Click here to add another media outlet."

I don't see the 64 stations that it said it found for my area.

Great idea. I have been saying that we can get the news out through the smaller stations.

The test says that it found 64 records, but some were not included becasue they don't have properly formatted email addresses.

If you check below, under "OPTION 3" the missing records should be there, along with links to their contact info pages.

Something we could use as a rapid response tool to whack CNN and others everytime they say something stupid? (Often.)

It just might be the watershed that turns the media around.

and Scorpious_Maximus has a point. We need something National. I usually just email one station because I don't have the time and knowledge to search for all the important National media email addresses.

This might be an opportunity to ask a question that I have been wanting to.

Two of our local radio stations, one Christian, and the other Country music, have become nothing more than virtual non-stop campaign tools for the Bush Republicans.

I called the country music station to complain about a DJ who likes to play news "commentator" and constantly offers his opinions about John Kerry. Yesterday, he was talking about how John Kerry got "set straight" when he called one of the swift boat vets.

I told them that I planned to make inquiries to find out if their station owes us some free air time. If so, it would probably amount to several months worth if you included daily limbaugh and hannity type rants.

I called the Christian radio station, and they were so self-righteous that it was immediately clear that nothing would happen. I got scolded for a comment I made about the possibility of Bush being the Anti-Christ.

I am ignorant of those laws, and I would like to do something but I don't know what.

Is this what your media blaster will be for?
