1. This is good but it is a bit wordy
I guess one assumes "progressives" read more, but the important part is the testimonials from people like Kucinich.
I noticed Howard Dean is not on there, and he most definitely should be.

Thanks!

4. I added Dean to the mix
His statement when he debated Nader seemed fitting. Thanks for reminding me to put Howard in there. :->

12. How about a version without Benjamin and Ellsberg?
My state, Montana, is supposedly not a 'swing state' but we got almost 6% for Nader last time, if we can get most of them I think we have a chance. So a version without the swing state comments would be helpful here...

3. Some people I know are voting for Nader not becuase of Bush
but because they want to make a statement of disatisfaction with the Democratic Party. My response to them is if they live in a safe state, like CT my state, vote Nader if they want. If they live in a swing state, vote Kerry. Most Nader voters I know, live in safe states.

5. Someone in Ohio asked me to do a flyer about for Nader fans
She does grassroots stuff and needed to be able to hand something tangible (like a flyer) to people who are either leaning toward Nader or just don't know what's at stake this year.

6. Wow, those people you are talking about - not you, of course,
but the ones voting for Nader, are some pretty stupid, self centered people.

'Safe' states? Wow they've totally bought into the RW's spin that not all votes count. Amazing how deluded some folks can be.

7. My state, Connecticut, and Massachusetts are safe states
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 06:26 PM by Larkspur
If Kerry loses his home state, he never had a chance, did he?

I can understand Democrats and Independents in CT and MA voting for Nader and trying to send a message. CT is forcasted to heavily go for Kerry, so why irritate these voters who could vote for the local Dem candidates, who are in much tighter races? Isn't that called compromise?

My co-worker from NH hates both Kerry and Bush, but he's resigned to vote for Kerry because he knows Bush is bad and NH is a swing state.

14. So you don't think Kerry can win his own state?
Here's what the Qunnipiac polling service says about Connecticut
from August 19, 2004 -- Connecticut voters give new gov huge approval, Quinnipiac University Poll finds; Kerry leads Bush 45-38 percent
http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x12961.xml

In the presidential race, Democratic Sen. John Kerry leads Republican President George W. Bush 45 – 38 percent, with 6 percent for independent candidate Ralph Nader. This compares to a 50 – 32 percent Kerry lead, with 9 percent for Nader in a June 30 Quinnipiac University poll.

Voters disapprove 52 – 42 percent of the job President Bush is doing, compared to a 58 – 37 percent disapproval June 30.

“A very popular Republican Governor may be helping President Bush in Connecticut, just as anti-Rowland feelings may have hurt Bush in the June 30 poll. Nonetheless, Kerry is maintaining a lead as expected in Connecticut,” Dr. Schwartz said.

13. Nader Was in Iowa Today
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 11:47 PM by Young Liberal
That flyer would have helped today. Nader made an impromptu stop at my college, though I didn't get a chance to see him. What was more interesting, however, is the controversy surrounding his petition to be put on the ballot.

Nader has been challenged by a professor (whom, by the way, is from my college and whose class I took last spring) that his petition has faulty signitures, duplicate addresses and other mistakes that should bar him from being placed on the ballot. My professor has an attorney working pro bono for the case, and it will be interesting to see how it develops.
