McCain lied about his wife Cindy meeting Mother Teresa

How do you not remember, or remember when it didn't happen, that you met Mother Teresa? Even worse? How do you remember, incorrectly, that that is how you adopted your daughter? Here is what McCain's campaign Web site used to claim about his wife, Cindy:

Cindy led 55 medical missions to third world and war-torn countries during AVMT's seven years of existence. On one of those missions, Mother Teresa convinced Cindy to take two babies in need of medical attention to the United States. One of those babies is now their adopted daughter, 15 year old Bridget McCain.

http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2008/08/20/watchdogs-make-it-harder-for-politicians-to-stretch-the-truth/">It isn't true:

The McCain campaign had also put out the story that Mother Teresa “convinced” Cindy to bring home two orphans from Bangladesh in 1991.

Mrs. McCain, it turns out, never met Mother Teresa on that trip. (Once contacted by the Monitor, the campaign revised the story on its website.)

Seriously, how do you get the story wrong about how you found your daughter? And imagine had Michelle Obama, and her husband via his campaign Web site, lied about meeting Mother Teresa, let alone lying about how they came about having their daughter, apparently in order to pad their resume. Imagine the fireworks.

4. She did a lot of good with the "despised of the earth" but she needed to be
more politically sophisticated in who she took money from.

2. I thought that was wrong ... I've heard about Cindy bringing back a baby
but NEVER heard that Mother Teresa had been part of the story
(which probably WOULD have been mentioned earlier had it been
true).

DOES HE THINK WE'RE STUPID .. OR WHAT?

(Rhetorical question ... )

3. Also, how the hell did they get the adoption approved by the government?
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 03:02 PM by JCMach1
For India and Bangladesh, it is almost impossible to adopt unless your ethnic background is from that country.

Think Madonna and Rwanda...

5. Let's count the deceptions: the Mother Theresa story, being an only child, the cookie recipe..
What else?

And Aravosis is right. If Michelle Obama were the one telling these whoppers, the corporate media would gleefully shred her, nonstop, from now until November.

7. I am sure that incident with her stealing drugs from a charity involved some deception...
And remember that little affair from when John was still married to someone else? While Cindy is by no means honest herself, she pales in comparison to John though. John McCain's entire life is based on deception.

We are reliving Ronnie Raygun's memory lapses. Perhaps he saw Mother Theresa on TV once.

snip (from the article linked in the snippet above):

"Ronald Reagan’s reminiscing about flying over Germany in World War II (he did, but only in a movie)"
