Bob Dole at it again, only worse, on Scabrow
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 09:40 PM by buycitgo
right this second

I heard this: "John Kerry only said 73 words in his acceptance speech about his Senate record."

click

will Joe the Internicide ask Dole what he meant when he claimed that Kerry wasn't wounded BADLY enough for him, in Vietnam?

Or exlplain how he found out that the shrapnel wound that's still inSIDE him got there without causing him to bleed?

or how he learned that Kerry got two of his purple hearts on one DAY?

just curious. I know Leslie Blitzer forgot to ask him to clear up any of those points on Sunday.

Do you think Joe the Ripper will cover any of those points?

are you as nauseated by this venal hack as I am?

and for the LARGE number of people here who have failed to follow Dole's career by any means other than the most superficial of mainstream media outlets, rest assured he is NOT an honorable man, by ANY stretch of the imagination, has NOT been one from his earliest days in politics.

Oh, will Joe ask him about Dole's own FIRST purple heart, which, indeed, appears to be self-inflicted, with AMPLE documentation.

just curious

OK....no more Viagra jokes....they have become tiresome....like Clenis jokes

EDIT: here's a GOOD one, from 76:

NYT, 8/12/76: In his legion speech Mr. Dole recalled that four wars in this century had been fought under Democratic Presidents.

"We know that wars become self justifying once they've begun," he said, "but once the harsh light of history reveals that they rarely begin for reasons that are self justifying, but rather because of weakness, wishful thinking and bad leadership.

"No one hates war more than those who have had to fight. And none have a greater right to insist upon leadership that understands how to prevent war, to protect liberty, and to preserve peace, than those who have had to fight."

Honestly, Dole makes me barf. He must be afraid to appear with anyone who will challenge his ridiculous assertions.

3. Dole is babbling RNC talking points
and repeating over and over 'the liberal media' baloney. He sounds senile.

I kinda feel sorry for him tonight. Like a toothless old lion who never got to be the King.

15. don't EVER feel sorry for him
remember, he HATED 41 almost as viscerally as McCain loathes the chimp

he was WINNING the primaries in 88 til Bush told some HUGE lies about him, prompting to become unhinged and accuse him to "STOP LYING ABOUT MY RECORD!"

the smears about him then caused his immediate downfall, either in New Hampshire, following his win in Iowa, or helped Bush get close enough in NH to revitalize his campaign, and send Dole into a tailspin from which he never recovered.

my point is, for whatever reason, when SUMMONED by the Orcs of the Bush campaign, he came: crawling, sniveling, lying, uninformed, and not caring, for some reason thinking that the bogus good will built up by completely slavish media coverage during his 96 run, would insulate him from the most superficial scruting, resulting in the OUTRAGEOUS series of lies he told about Kerry's combat record

shame on you, Mr. Senator for Sale

4. lots and lots here

including this:

Bought and Sold: Political Favors for Big Campaign Contributors

The biggest scandal of Dole's political career is his consistent and intense pattern of doing political favors for big political contributors. Bob Dole is a genius of money-grubbing, raking in $500,000 a week last year, even before this presidential campaign began in earnest. He raised the legal limit of $37.5 million in campaign contributions by March of this primary year.

Beyond direct contributions, he has worked out several hidden ways get money from special interests: free or low-cost flights on corporate jets, contributions to foundations, PACs and charities he controls, a sweetheart deal on a luxury condo, and money given to his wife Elizabeth -- and her charities. When Senators were allowed to receive payments for giving speeches, Dole spoke often and very profitably. That was banned, so now Elizabeth now speaks to many of the same special interests and lobbying groups Dole spoke to. Her speeches -- worth $875,000 over the last 3 years -- erupted into scandal when her promise to donate the money to charity was proven phony.

Who gives Bob Dole all this money? A bunch of special interests who seek -- and get -- political favors from Dole. Mr. Family Values gets tons of money from booze, gambling and tobacco money, such as the Gallo Winery family and US Tobacco.Other major benefactors include Koch Industries, a family owned Kansas oil company whose owners are worth $4.7 BILLION; Carl Lindner, a Cincinnati billionaire who controls Chiquita Bananas and American Financial Corporation; Fisher Brothers real estate, and several natural gas companies -- Arco, Amoco, Coastal and Enron -- who enjoyed a special tax break that Dole promoted, even though it hurt Kansas' independent natural gas producers. But you don't need to be a billionaire to get favors from Dole. Even an obscure rabbi from Brooklyn got millions of dollars in federal Agency for International Development money after Dole and his staff pushed hard for his proposal. All it took was $100,000 in contributions and some diligent work as a Dole fund-raiser.

Now granted, none of his opponents (who have ever held office) are in a position to criticize him, including President Clinton (whose fundraising success doesn't get much attention.) But that does not make Dole's money grubbing and favors for donors any better. And he does this far more often and blatantly than anyone else. Dole is so successful that Bill Clinton's two biggest Arkansas donors -- Tyson Foods and Stephens, Inc. Investments - have switched their funding to him.

and for those who don't remember, he was one of the two VERY last rats off the sinking USS Nixon in 74. Who would you guess was the other one?

13. Oh he's whining about the "liberal media"
He said he never got positive coverage for being a war hero.

Yeah, Bob, that "liberal" media carefully checked out the lies of the swiftboat liars before reporting them as truth for 2 weeks. Yeah, that "liberal" media was SO tough on Bush over his national guard service record. Did it even come up in 2000' would it EVER have come up this year if not for Michael Moore and bloggers pushing the issue?

And there's Scarborough (whatever happened to LORI) sitting there claiming to be in the "middle" as he whores shamelessly for the Bushistas.

28. Bob Dole supported Saddam Hussein
When Saddam Hussein gassed his own people in 1988, the Republican Administration of Ronald Reagan at first blamed Iran before acknowledging, under pressure from congressional Democrats, that the culprits were the forces of Saddam Hussein. Later in the war between Iraq and Iran, U.S. commandos began blowing up Iranian oil platforms and patrol boats, as part of an operation to protect Iraqi oil from attacks by Iran as it was shipped through the Persian Gulf. In 1988, exhausted and fearing U.S. intervention, Iran gave up and Saddam Hussein became the hero and strongman of the Middle East. U.S. and European company officials trooped to Iraq seeking contracts; among those vying for the attention of Saddam Hussein were delegations of the U.S. Congress led by Senator Bob Dole (the Republican Presidential candidate in 1996) and Senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming who sought to promote American farm and business interests.
