The leader of this group is Ret. Rear Admiral Roy Hoffman. In June of 2003, he recalled Kerry's actions to receive the Silver Star: "It took guts and I admire that." Today, without mentioning his previous statements about Kerry, Hoffman is denouncing Kerry's actions in Vietnam.
George Elliott is another member of the group who stood by Kerry's side in his Senate re-election campaign saying his Silver Star, "was an act of courage." He was one of Kerry's commanders and said, "The man was unsurpassed and the acknowledged leader of his peer group."
Still another member of this group, Adrian Lonsdale, campaigned for Kerry in his re-election bid saying he was "one of the finest of the swift boat veterans showing bravado and courage."
Overnight, these three men, together with other veterans, have turned on Kerry, saying his medals and wounds were fabricated. It makes no sense except to understand that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is funded by Bob Perry and Harlan Crowe, two men close to Bush and the Texas GOP.
