New polls will come out tomorrow....
We'll know how much damage, if any, was done to the Kerry campaign and whether Bush will be satisfied enough to call off the slime dogs. We can only hope they didn't make a damn bit of difference but from the Republican general reactions, they seem to think it has helped Bush and the Repubs.

But there is a law of physics - what goes up can go down. No matter what the polls show tomorrow, they are temporary. It will be a feel-good boost for the Repub convention in NY but it won't last much longer. We have 70 more days to battle these dirtbags. We can't let a little bump in the road, for us or against us, affect our longer view on this campaign. We have to keep our eye on the prize.

1. It is hard for one not to be depressed. Who are these people
in the US that will take in lies wholesale and believe in the face of
all the information out there about the hypocracy of the bush machine. I was so angered when I heard how Max Cleland was treated today in Texas.

3. It takes a little time to bake the bread until it is good and brown...
It takes a little while but Bush is gonna be baked good and done... :)

8. Thanks, tonight's cable news focus made me realize that the
only voice we really have are 527's movie's like F/11, Uncovered but the
bulk of the people just get this crap. There is some hope sometimes with Aaron Brown. I am really trying to have faith that real Americans will make the right choice and then stay involved to make sure this never happens again. (Bush machines)

2. My guess is the polls will show a slight slump for Kerry...
but after today I think there will be a bigger bump, and a very small bump for the repugs...

ALOT of people I ahve talked to, all across the political spectrum aren't pleased about the way Max was treated... My Republican Mom "he could have at least showed the respect a wounded vet deserves and taken the letter from him, whether or not he agreed with it"

6. I could see the ad....
With a picture of George and his Saudi friend, holding hands....
(voice over)
George Bush had the time to talk with his oil buddies from Saudi Arabia but he didn't have time to even speak to Max Cleland, on of America's heroes.

10. I love it!
Even better would be that thuggish Taliban guy Bush entertained the summer before 9/11.

I hope Laura had the place exorcised after he left.

Shudder.

9. "satisfied enough to call off the slime dogs"? What are you smoking?
Those dogs are going to be having their day until November 3, NONSTOP.

They will smear, and smear, and smear, and lie, and lie, and lie, and do whatever the hell else they can to bring John Kerry's reputation into the gutter.

These people are ruthless, they will do anything to win.

11. Very true but....
i meant to say, call off the slime dogs on this issue. Yes, of course, they will be sliming up to the very end. And this is their Achilles heel. Because they will be predictable, and by doing so, it will permit Kerry to define them as the slimeballs they are. If they were smart, they would confuse the situation by coming out with a heap of "positive" ads and accuse the Kerry camp of being the ones that are "negative". But I don't know if they have it in them??

12. Zogby Battleground Poll

Doesn't seem to have hurt Kerry where it counts.

14. According to Political Wire
The LA Times Poll will show Kerry was hurt by SBVFT. 49 Bush, 46 Kerry. But I have a happy spin for this.

Consider: The poll will put Kerry down by 3 points. However, next week's poll will be after the SBVFT lies have all been exposed which should bring Kerry back up. Meanwhile, it will also be after Bush's convention which should give him a little bump. So factoring in Kerry's recovery from SBVFT, this should tend to damage Bush's bump.

So, if Bush would have gotten a six point bump, the recovery knocks it down three points and leaves a mear 3 point gain net.

However, if the actual bounce is only three points, the result will be a zero bounce net.

Muahahahaha!

15. It seems that everyone has set expectations
high for bush in this next Gallup poll.

If it doesn't turnout that way, it will look really good for Kerry.

16. Thanks, kentuck.
I try to stay optimistic but some of this negative stuff wears me down and I really hate it when everybody buys into it.

What goes up does come down and polls are only as reliable as any given moment in time. There are so many variables in effect when polls are taken and none of them are scientific.

The next day or two can change events and change peoples perceptions and it's like predicting which direction the wind will blow.

What I wish everybody would remember is that the polls consistently had Bush leading Gore by three or four points -- all polls -- right up to election day and Al Gore got over 500,000 more votes than G.W. Bush.

17. polls are just a snapshot in time....
...too bad there is so much ignorance in our land...All I can say is my state's (Oregon) electoral votes will be for Kerry in the end ...

The SBV has been heavily damaging, thanks in part through the media, but I sense a shift coming soon! I mean how can people pin their hopes on such a bunch of outrageously cowardly liars who have people who dare to question them in public either arrested or fired from their jobs? How American is that and what's the fucking deal with people who think it is?
