Things to TIE around Bush's neck...ENRON.
To help counter the 24/7 Kerry-bashing in our "fairly unbalanced" media, some DEM 527s might want to point out:

Bush and ENRON and Ken Lay go way back. For proof and inspiration, check out their actual correspondence.

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0708042lay1.html

Perhaps another DEM 527 might point out Bush's ties to George W Bush's shady business practices:

http://www.thetruthaboutgeorge.com/special/harken.html

Gee. That leads us to James R Bath and the Bush-Bath connection to the bin Laden clan through HARKEN/Spectrum 7

http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/INL110A.html

http://www.americanfreepress.net/10_07_01/Bush___Bin_Laden_-_George_W__B/bush___bin_laden_-_george_w__b.html

http://www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/Hatfield-R-091901/hatfield-r-091901.html

These are just a couple of important topics the American people haven't been reading about in the press or seeing the White House press whores ask the Chimperror. What else could DEMs tie around Bush's neck? -- (issues only, please).

1. How about ...
... a 200-pound sack of depleted uranium ordnance casings?

Right before we challenge him to a swim meet, of course.

2. That's a most positive image, but I was thinking about issues like 9-11...
... in order to build a thread where we can list all the areas in which Bush is vulnerable. The main one is 9-11, where the best thing that can be said about Bush is that he was criminally derelict in his duty as commander-in-chief (sic). More likely, the guy's a traitor and enabled the events of 9-11 to unfold.

Still, the thought of the Little Turd from Crawford mocking the condemned woman "Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me." makes me want to extend the parameters to include heavy objects and hemp rope...

3. The reliance on Ahmed CHALABI for rationale for Iraq Invasion...
Chalabi the Iranian Spy...

Chalabi, a former member of the U.S.-appointed Iraqi Governing Council, was once hailed by many in the Bush administration as the likely next leader of a post-Saddam Iraq. He took a fall after increasingly clashing with Washington on issues like how much power would be handed over to Iraqis when the country regains sovereignty. U.S. intelligence officials said that Chalabi informed Iran that the United States had broken the secret communications codes used by Iranian intelligence to transmit sensitive messages to posts around the world. Chalabi has denied the charge.

Chalabi and the Iran Connection

Saifullah Khan

Dr. Ahmed Adel Hadi Chalabi is a Shi'a Muslim. He is the son of a wealthy banking family whose grandfather, father and brother held prominent posts in Iraqi governments until Saddam Hussein's Baath Party seized power in 1968. He has not lived in Iraq since 1956, apart from a period organizing resistance in the Kurdish north in the mid-1990s. Chalabi was born in Baghdad on 30 Oct 1944. He received basic education from Baghdad and in 1956 his family shifted to the United States. He received education from USA/UK and qualified Ph.D in Mathematics from Chicago University. He then joined American University Beirut. In 1977 he established a bank named "Petra Bank" in Amman, Jordan. The bank became the second largest banking asset of Jordan. Later on, a Jordanian Court accused him for bank fraud and awarded him 17 years punishment. He succeeded to escape from Jordan. He mostly lived in USA& UK.

In 1990, Mr Ahmed Chalabi participated actively in the Kurds resistance movement in Northern Iraq and planned to establish a separate political party. In 1992 he established a political party named Iraqi National Congress (INC). His party established close links with Americans/CIA. He was able to penetrate American policy making circles through Israeli friends and remained in the good books of Dick Cheney, the Vice President. On the other hand, being a common enemy of Saddam's regime, his party remained close to Iranian authorities.

In 1998 he tried to play a middleman role between Israel and Iran but failed. He visited Iran many times to hold meetings with high officials. In Mar 2003 he approached the Iranian diplomatic mission in London and asked for multiple entry visa for him & Mr Francis. Mr Francis was an American national expert of ME crises and was enjoying close relations with CIA as well as Condoleezza Rice. Both were awarded with Multiple Entry Visa. When they arrived in Tehran, they were warmly received by Iranian authorities. During the visit they held meetings with high officials including President Syed Muhammad Khatami, the Foreign Minister and IRGC/Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) authorities. The Iranians also managed a meeting of Mr Francis with some journalists. In reply to different questions, Mr Francis said, "We understand there are only two factors that have encouraged the spread of fundamentalism in Arab countries. Americas most import strategic goal at the moment is to help the Arab people to achieve democracy and to find a just settlement of Palestine issue through establishment of an independent and democratic Palestinian State. Removal of Saddam's regime and helping the Iraqi people to establish democracy will be the beginning of this process. Iraq is the common denominator, which also attacked Iran. Iran has extended valuable help to the Iraqi opposition and enjoys excellent relations with major opposition groups such as Masoud Bazerain, Ahmed Chalalabi and other leaders." He also said, "We cannot deny that Iran enjoys a semblance democracy but we hope that it will be further developed into a true democracy." In another meeting with Iranian officials, Mr Francis said that America was not thinking of attacking Iran or of changing its regime. This visit played an important role after which Iranian Supreme National Security Council held a meeting and decided to support American attacks for change of regime in Baghdad. Subsequently, both Chalalabi and Francis went to Northern Iraq to meet Iraqi Kurd leaders.

In Dec 2003, Mr Ahmed Chalabi again paid an important visit to Tehran. During this visit he held secret meetings with the Supreme Leader and Iranian President, Ministers and IRGC authorities. Details of these meetings have not been published.

Excellent, oasis! Following your cue, I'll add equality and egalitarianism and the lack thereof. Yours especially will make excellent ballast to prevent the crazy monkey from stealing another election. Thank you!

10. Thanks, Jane!
I still remember how Poppy hanged many tags around the neck of Michael Dukakis in 1988. Chief among them was Willie Horton. Others were "psycho," because Duke visited a counselor after his brother was killed in a hit-and-run. Then there were the attacks on the "drunken and drugged" Kitty. Real fine people, those Bushes.

Well, to show we ARE better than them, we can win fair and square. Our weapon? The Truth!

8. Why does EVIDENCE of Dubya's biggest quid pro quo for Enron
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 06:29 PM by AirAmFan
stay down the memory hole?

Dubya's big payoff to Enron was a speech in LA on "Why I oppose price caps", at the height of Kenny-boy's Enron gouging.

The only reason the lights did not go out on the "president" is that Los Angeles generates its own municipal power.

Even a simple transcript is very hard to find, let alone a video. You must go to http://www.lawac.org/speech/Bush.html . With some browser settings, you must go through the homepage at http://www.lawac.org and find it by date (2001 May 29th) using the "Year/Session" link in the lower left corner of the page. The "Surname" link is now broken.

If you look for it where it should be, in the WH news archive at http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/05 , you'll find no trace of it.

"Speech before the Los Angeles World Affairs Council on May 29, 2001:

"The Honorable George W. Bush, President of the United States

I'm glad to be here today to talk about our economy and a prosperity agenda for America.... And our prosperity agenda makes a priority of energy security. We can get everything else right, but if our energy supply is unreliable or unaffordable, our economy cannot thrive. For too long, America has neglected energy. The neglect ends now. My administration has developed a comprehensive national energy policy--more than 100 recommendations to promote conservation, expand energy production, improve energy transmission and protect the environment....

Blame shifting is not action, it's a distraction. My administration will continue to work to help California through the difficult months ahead.

All our efforts are guided by a simple test: Will any action increase supply at fair and reasonable prices? Will it decrease demand in equitable ways? Anything that meets that test will alleviate the shortage, and we will move swiftly to adopt it. Anything that fails that test will make the shortage worse. We will not take any action that makes California's problems worse. And that's why I oppose price caps. Price caps do nothing to reduce demand, and they do nothing to increase supply....

At first blush, for those struggling to pay high energy bills, price caps may sound appealing. But their result will ultimately be more serious shortages and, therefore, even higher prices. I want to assure Californians that the federal government takes very seriously our responsibility to make sure that companies are not illegally gouging consumers. I have publicly called on federal agencies to investigate all complaints of illegal gouging, and if those complaints are justified, to take strong and appropriate action. I'm pleased that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has done just that...".

13. Thank you, AirAmFan! You've presented enough evidence to prosecute.
ENRON owes their rapid rise to Bush's Poppy. And they'd still be in business at the top of the energy world if Junior had been able to come through with Cheney's secret energy policy. Their problem is they ran out of time.

Let's see if we can find a DEM 527 interested in presenting this message. If done the "right" way, it would turn many a Bush supporter against him -- especially in those battleground states Ohio, Missouri and Wisconsin.

14. *'s speech flows directly from a memo Ken Lay handed to Cheney on 4/17/01
during a private meeting between the two of them. See point #3 in &paper=chronicle&file=MN46204.DTL&directory=/c/a/2002/01/30&type=news , along with an accompanying SF Chronicle story from early 2002:

From http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/01/30/MN46204.DTL

'Memo details Cheney--Enron links

Company's suggestions resembled elements of the administration's energy policy

David Lazarus, Chronicle Staff Writer Wednesday, January 30, 2002

While the White House insists that details of its talks with Enron officials remain secret, a memo outlining those discussions reveals the extent to which the Houston energy giant lobbied to influence government policy. The memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Chronicle, was handed by former Enron Chairman Ken Lay to Vice President Dick Cheney last April when the two met to discuss the administration's response to California's energy crisis.

The three-page document contains eight points spelling out Enron's case for why federal authorities should refrain from imposing price caps or other measures sought by California officials to stabilize runaway electricity prices. A number of the positions in the memo subsequently made it into Cheney's energy plan or were reflected in comments by senior administration officials. "Events in California and in other parts of the country demonstrated that the benefits of competition have yet to be realized and have not yet reached consumers," the memo argues. "The following actions need to be taken," it continues...

The key point as far as California was concerned was whether soaring wholesale power prices should be limited or whether such prices were merely a reflection of normal supply-and-demand dynamics. "The administration should reject any attempt to re-regulate wholesale power markets by adopting price caps or returning to archaic methods of determining the cost-base of wholesale power," the memo says. It adds that even temporary price restrictions "will be detrimental to power markets and will discourage private investment."'

12. Tie Tom Delay's bogus medicare arm twist around Chimpy's neck.
The meanest spirited person ever in congress is the "enforcer" in the House. Compassionate conservatism is constantly shoved aside as Delay gets the nod of approval from the White House.

The elderly voters need to be reminded of the vote that Delay delayed for hours in the house until he squeezed out a sham of a medicare bill. IIRC, Delay had a hot line to Chimpy who helped "persuade" reluctant repugs to vote for this legislation.

16. Add Tom Delay's manipulation of the Texas congressional districts.
Swing voters and moderates have a low tolerance for mean spirited politicians (remember the 90's Dem campaign ads w/ Newt as the featured bad guy?).

Tie Tom Delay to the Chimp.
