New SBV ad refuted by Toledo Pulitzer winners!
The new attack ad, highlighs the testimony Kerry gave in 1971 - making it seem, of course, as if Kerry is condemning the troops rather than the officers in charge.

Tavis Smiley gave the reporters a chance to refute the ad on NPR this morning.

The ad has Kerry accusing US troops of very specific atrocities: cutting of heads, raping, etc. I want to see if the TV media bring on the Pultizer winning writers of the Toledo Blade (2003 award) - who helped expose the actual atrocities carried on for a 7 month period by the Tiger Force in Vietnam. Their atrocities were documented in classified papers revealed by a military officer who could not let these horrors go by. And, of course, there was My Lai.

My rhetorical question: Will the media bring on these reporters, or Tiger Force members, or Vietnam survivers, on every network as they did O'Neill, the star player the Swift Boat crap ads. I think we know.

The networks are playing dirtier than the politicians and the Bushites. That's a far more dangerous game than sleazy politics.

I posted this earlier in the week. For those who missed it..please see how the mud is being slung by the corporate media...and making it possible for Bush to gain points from the lies. The ads work.

But we can fight back....

1. Maybe Colin Powell should be asked to recount what happened at My Lai

maybe he can report it honestly this time.

3. Democracy Now had one of the Toledo Blade reporters on
yesterday.

We speak with Pulitzer prize-winning reporter Mike Sallah who uncovered massacres committed by U.S. troops in Vietnam on the scale of My Lai that had gone unreported for 36 years and we hear from former Army journalist Dennis Stout who witnessed U.S. soldiers atrocities committed by U.S. soldiers in Vietnam including raping and killing Vietnamese girl and skinning an unarmed Vietnamese man as well as how he was threatened by senior military officers when he tried to come forward.

4. I'm evolving to the opinion that the "news" media are complicit...
... in the smears, in that they want this sort of mud-slinging campaign that will require massive counter-advertising.
