what's media's excuse for not playing Nixon-O'Neill tape?

They actually have a tape of the ringleader of this group talking to freaking Nixon, and they're not playing it every chance they get?

Nixon tapes are boffo box office, so even the excuse about the profit motive, which is their explanation for Laci, Jacko, etc., is bogus.

What about the tape of Nixon scheming with Colson about smearing Kerry, why doesn't that get run over and over. They talk plenty about the legacy of Vietam, fine, but what about the legacy of Nixon's dirty tricks.

They could even inform people that Karl Rove got his start in that dirty tricks operation.

8. I'm kinda POed at CNN

so I don't watch as much as I once did. I got home from work at about 1:00 yesterday afternoon. They were playing the tape and talking I thought rather strongly about how this deflates the Swiftboat Liars claims quite a bit. I seem to think it was Miles O'Brien, but I can't be sure.

Then last night I saw Arron Brown play it again, all while giving the old "arched eyebrow" which seemed to say, "Boy, is this guy screwed".

They did run the beginning of the stupid swiftboat commerical again so that viewers who are particularly slow would know what this was in reference to, so that wasn't that great, but at least the damn Nixon tape was mentioned.

There is also an undertone that this is all just silly political bickering ...

10. This Is Where WE become the media...

Impatience is a hallmark of DU...an asset as much as a demon. Thanks to the many heads-up folks here, we get the latest stories as their breaking and bringing up our own searches and findings. Things move fast...far too fast for the media and waaaaaay to fast for their impression of their viewers. In short, CNNservative thinks their viewers are dumb and must herded like cattle from one big story to the next.

It's obvious that anything that involves nuance (like the Kerry votes on the Iraq invasion), fairness (slimeboat lies being taken as credible without checking facts first) and relevence (they fit it in their own script...if it bleeds, it leads mentality) are totally beyond the range of any of these networks and thus other networks and sources of information have to be created that will result in the "mainstream media" to come around to a story.

Thus, I'm constantly emailing and directing people to websites and other online sources whenever they have a question, and just let them decide. Let the pressure build as an under-current builds (as it is) of people who are recognizing the embargo on lots of information and the bias in how its presented.

This slimeboat fiasco has been a bonanaza for us...and I hope it's realized. With all the refutes and links here, we haven't had a slime charge stick yet and every day we're ratting out another GOOP operative (some at the very core of this evil operation). We have to be careful not to get so far ahead of a story that when the "mainstream" media picks up on it we're onto our next big thing. This takes a lot of patience.

I'm hoping Walt Starr's * picture is getting a good once over in newsrooms around the country. While he did a great job in bringing up the question, it's still a question...these are the people (and there are a few still left) who will get the answers...but it may not be for another week or two or a month. But whenever it comes out or however doesn't matter...just as long as it does.

The Nixon tapes colmes played last night was the first time I've heard that conversation...although I saw references to the transcripts for quite some time. It's convincing that O'Neill was a liar then and a liar now and a Nixon operative...but except for us old "Watergaters" that means precious little to others.

We have to discredit O'Neill in the present...and that's being done nicely by the Kerry campaign...not play the Rove game of living in the 70's.
