Talking point: Why should Kerry denounce 527s?
There have been NO, that's right ZERO misleading, deceptive, or inflammatory advertisements coming from 527 groups on our side. All the advertisements from MoveOn and similar groups have been 100% factual.

1. I wish Kerry would come back with...
If Shrubya doesn't like the 527's then he shouldn't have signed the legislation allowing them...

8. This was the GOP's loophole
They designed it for themselves, because at the time, all the big money was Scaife money and it was all going to the right wing stink tanks and their dummy PACs.

They never expected a few plutocrats to realize that the GOP has been fouling the nest and might actually queer the economic deal the rich have been getting and donate heavily to left of center groups.

The outrage from the GOP is hilarious. They had really expected the Smear Boat guys to be their Willie Horton this year. They never expected them to be outed as right wing liars, they never expected them to be tied directly to the Bush gang, and they never expected any ads to answer the whole business.

Let the babies wail that somebody else found their toys. In the meantime, let Kerry sue Regeery for libel, really hit those boys where it hurts the most. Campaign ads are protected from slander suits. Books are not protected from libel suits.

3. I think that he should denounce
He should say that these organization destract the candidates from the issues that are important to the American People. The campaign should be about issues not smears.

9. not all 527 ads are smears
None of the MoveOn ads are smears. It's not a smear if it's true.

5. I think he should not denounce them
These are passionate American's expressing their opinions; why shouldn't they be allowed to add their voices to the mix? So long as they don't specifically endorse a candidate, I don't see a problem with them. OF course that means that they will be used more as attack dogs; that's the cost of doing business. Those who are patently liars, such as the Swift Boat Vets, will be found out.

6. I don't think 527's should be stopped
Bush doesn't like them because they give more people a voice.

Denounce the lies. Shame the liars.

7. Most of the Pro Kerry ads ARE about the issues.
Kerry shouldn't have to denounce anything.
The point wasn' t that 527s are bad. The point is the 527s promoting Bush are LYING. And Bush is getting around the issue by denouncing ALL 527s, which he'd probably love to do anyway considering Kerry gets far more support then Bush through 527's.

And now Bush is trying to team up with McCain to ban all 527s. The hypocrisy there is laughable...If McCain goes along with this, with the man that destroyed him with 527s, well then, it just goes to show what a weasly weakling McCain really is..
