Then...I won't do anything necessarily. But I will be unhappy.

Quick summary:
Some people want to jangle keys at the DNC convention to draw attention to McCain's gaffe about not knowing how many houses he owns. Others (myself included) strongly oppose this because we feel it will backfire and be used against us. The reason it may backfire is that McCain has stated that he has an aversion to jangling keys due to his POW experiences.

6. This fear of things backfiring.........
a seemingly pervasive fear among us Demoocrats. "We won't do this because it might backfire." "We don't want to do that because it may make the repukes mad."

This fear of which you speak is the thing that makes us Democrats look weak and spineless. I'm tired of us Democrats looking like dorrmats under the feat of the repukes.

So what if jangling keys reminds McSame of his POW experiences! If he cracks under that kind of pressure then it would just prove that he can't handle being President!

8. Well, if he has such a strong aversion to jingling keys
he shouldn't have bought so many fucking houses.

And what's the problem with inadvertently bringing up the fact that he's a psycho freak?

1. There are rumors that SEIU is sending keys to the convention...

...to make fun of McCain's houses. The problem is that McCain has admitted that jingling keys is one of his PTSD cues.

9. Killing two birds with one stone
It could work on multiple levels if done properly--ridicule his many houses and also take a cue from Gloria Steinem by pointing out how being a POW is not an "accomplishment" but actually a mark of failure.

2. Someone came up with the idea to have several key rings with keys numbered #1 to #10
to mock McCain's inability to recall how many houses he has without the aid of his staff and in revenge for the 2004 Republican tactic of using bandaids with purple hearts on them to try to imply that John Kerry's Purple Heart was awarded using self-inflicted wounds, which was a bunch of BS. But McCain definitely suffers from PTSD and apparently the sound of keys jangling makes him flashback on his time of captivity in Vietnam.

Leave that kind of bs for the repubs.

7. It may be tacky and immature but it works!
The Democrats need to win back the White House, and if being tacky and immature will help us get there then you can call us tackey and immature WINNERS!

4. LOL! There are two reasons for the key rattling.
The first is to highlight the fact that McTaint has 10 houses and can't even remember them all. That's the good part.

The second is to highlight McTaint's supposed PTSD reaction to keys rattling due to his time as a POW. This is a bad idea because it can only work up sympathy for him and focus attention on the idea that he gave so much for this country.

If they pass out plastic keys, which will not make the same sound as metal ones, it's probably not so bad. But the media is still likely to push the meme that the nasty Democrats are making fun of veterans.

I think it's a losing proposition for us regardless.
