Would Obama be doing better if he'd kept his nickname Barry?
I realize it's a dumb thing, but I wonder if Obama had stuck with his original nickname as Barry Obama if he would not now be struggling to overcome this "exotic" label that he has been branded with.

It is so disheartening that the GOP and the media and too many American Idiots consider this guy too "non-ordinary." Jeezus, if this nation can't overlook a few slight differences in a guy who is basically an all American success story.....

2. Barry O'bama sound Irish. Just think of the ad possibilities. An yes, Amerikans would
not have as much of a problem as some do, especially with "those people" being our current boogiemen.

5. But Mitt looks like a Ken doll
Never mind that he was born on third base and is basically an airhead.

He's white, good-looking and vapid. Just the way we like 'em.

4. No. The only reason he's not running away with this
is the 3/10 Democrats who are still bitter about Clinton.

7. Why was Barack "hiding" his first name?
The RW would have had a field day with that. They already have tried to make his name somehow sinister, but being upfront about it from the beginning was a good move by Obama.

8. What is the point of this question? (And the answer is" no" anyway.)
Like Limbaugh would go after Barack Hussein Obama, but not touch Barry Hussein Obama, right?

9. Like I'm not talking about Limbaugh
Like it was a serious question. Obviously Obama has chosen to go with his given name, but like I'm just wondering how much difference little things like this might make in the "perception" game.

11. No.
They would track down his original name and then try to raise the issue that he is trying to hide something by obscuring his "Muslim" roots.

It would be even worse. Better for him to stay true to his name and be proud of it. It shows he has nothing to hide. What you see is what you get.

13. Exactly.
"Why does Barry Obama not use his given name, Barak? What is he hiding?" This would be the meme of the RW during the whole election cycle.

15. No, actually, I was thinking about this earlier
and I believe that the Republicans would question his actions either way. Why'd he change? Why'd he change back? What's he hiding? It's all the same to them and they just keep asking ridiculous questions...

they will pick apart Obama but what else is new, he will brush them right off his shoulders.

Barack or Barry? who the fuck cares as long as he does the job and has our support to get the work done, our livelihood depends on it.

to "Americanize" his name. Either way he loses--which is why he should refuse to play by their rules.

24. How about "Bubba Obama"?
Make the redneck nimrods happy.

Lordy.

"Barack" is the name that's going to retrieve for the U.S. some friends around the world ... after nearly 8 years of Chimpya's alienation of all nations.

26. I don't think so because of the reason he dropped the Nickname
He allowed himself to be called Barry because he was uncomfortable with who he was and his name.
It shows great strength of Character that he came out to embrace his given name and the History behind it. That's the important story

Also this country as hole needs to get over his name and anyone who's name isn't Sally, Bob, Thomas, Or Mary.

Our Culture is made up of people from every part of the world, an it's time our leaders reflected diversity.
and this is coming from a Black Woman named Heather.
