But she ended up being my 2nd choice.

Is it a common practice for the nominee to have to do a song and dance to win over the supporters of another candidate? I always thought that Dems rallied around the nominee because it is that important to put a Dem in the Whitehouse. Even if you aren't happy about who the nominee is, isn't s/he better than the alternative?
