4. I hope Bush so he can feel all safe in his big bullet proof vest with
imaginary American's who support him like blind little sheep falling over a cliff. I really don't care what the polls say, I hope they say he's doing GREAT, it prevents him from slandering Kerry and diverting attention away from his pathetic record. WORST person EVER!

Poll: Bush has slim lead over Kerry
By Jill Lawrence, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — President Bush enters his convention week holding a slight lead over Democrat John Kerry and regaining ground he lost after the Democratic convention on the key issues of handling terrorism and Iraq, a new USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows.
In a head-to-head matchup, Bush led Kerry 50%-47% among likely voters, while Kerry led Bush 48%-47% among registered voters. When independent Ralph Nader is included, Bush leads Kerry, 48%-46%, among likely voters. Nader gets 4%.<snip>

Bush's favorable rating of 54% was his highest since April. By contrast, Kerry's 52% was his lowest since January. <snip>

At the same time, the poll found that most people, 63%, think Kerry is definitely or probably telling the truth about his military service. Half say Bush is very or somewhat responsible for the ads the group is running, although Bush and his campaign have denied any involvement. And 56% say Bush should denounce the ads.

Pollster Mark Mellman, a senior Kerry adviser, says the poll shows "the vast majority of Americans understand that this smear against John Kerry is in fact untrue. They hold President Bush responsible for it." Mellman also said that based on individual state polls, Kerry is ahead in states with 320 electoral votes. A candidate needs 270 to win the presidency.<snip>

• Bush leads Kerry 49%-43% on who would handle Iraq better. Kerry was ahead 48%-47% right after the convention.

• Bush leads Kerry 54%-37% on who would handle terrorism better. Kerry had risen to 41% after his convention.

• Bush leads Kerry 54%-34% on who people think is "a strong and decisive leader." Kerry had halved that lead to 10 points right after the convention.

7. If the f*****ng media would actually report on what's happening
in Iraq there is no way more Americans would think Bush can do a better job handling Iraq.

I asked a bunch of friends (all very lib) how many US troops do they think have died in Iraq this month. The highest estimate was 20. The actual number as of today according to Lunaville is 58.

That's an illustration of how effectively the truth about Iraq is being hidden from America.

11. Actually...
the media is reporting this, at least I'm able to read it in the local fishwraps and occasionally see it on local and network news.

If the fucking PEOPLE would bother to read what does come out, things might be a bit different.

Sports pages, astrology column, gossip columns, comics. That's it, and only 5-10% of the local population gets even that far.

"You mean there's actual NEWS in there?"

NBC News Poll:
President, Kerry still deadlocked
Some troubling numbers for Bush on war, economy
By Mark Murray
NBC News
Aug. 26, 2004WASHINGTON -<snip>According to the survey, which was conducted by Hart/McInturff, Bush and Dick Cheney get support from 47 percent of registered voters, Democrats Kerry and John Edwards get 45 percent, and Independents Ralph Nader and Peter Camejo get 3 percent. Those numbers are virtually unchanged from the last NBC/Journal poll, which was released on July 22. Overall, 50 percent of registered voters believe the nation is headed in the wrong direction, compared with 36 percent who believe it’s headed in the right direction. And asked whether Bush deserves re-election, 50 percent say no, while 46 percent say yes. All of these results are practically identical to the findings from the July survey.

"If the election for president were held today, and George W. Bush and Dick Cheney were the Republican candidates, John Kerry and John Edwards were the Democratic candidates, and Ralph Nader and Peter Camejo were running as independent candidates, for whom would you vote?" Democrat Stan Greenberg and Republican Bill McInturff.
In the poll, conducted July 18-20, Kerry was favored by 47 percent of respondents, the president by 46. The poll's margin of error is 3.46 percent. But the survey also shows Kerry leading in swing states -- those in which neither party's presidential candidate dominated in the 2000 election.Fifty-four percent of poll respondents also continue to see the country as being on the wrong track, compared with 40 percent saying things are going in the right direction. That also matches the June poll. And President Bush's approval rating has fallen to 49 percent -- the first time it has slipped below 50 percent (where it was in June), according to the latest poll<snip>

8. The polls aren't really a big deal
For about the past 2.5 week it has been nothing but bad news for Kerry with little chance to rebut. As soon as the Olympics and RNC are over focus will shift back to the campaign and Bush's incompetence.

14. There Will Be Nothing But Bad News For Kerry Until The Election
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 05:15 PM by AndyTiedye
The other side OWNS THE NEWS, remember.
That isn't going to change between now and November.
The real media lovefest starts next week.

We had our little bounce from the Convention.
It was nice while it lasted.
It only took a few out-and-out lies from the SBV to take it away though.
Swing voters are totally fickle -- they are just looking for any excuse
to go back to the shrub, who appeals so well to all their baser instincts. Most of them will. We have to find our votes elsewhere,
from the "unlikely" voters.

We will have to find a way to win without any good news from now on,
and with practically every media outlet railing against us every day.

Like Chavez just did.

19. That's true, but the disturbing thing is this... the "nothing but bad news
for Kerry" was not the result of any real events happening, but a premanufactured smear campaign. In other words, the Repubs were able to manufacture 2 plus weeks of "bad news" for Kerry just on the basis of slander that we had no control over. Now granted perhaps Kerry campaign had the ability to decrease that number to 1 week or so with an earlier more effective response, but still...

Does that mean Bushco has the ability to manufacture 8 weeks of "bad news for Kerry" going up to the election that will once again obscure all bad Bush news (Iraq deaths etc.) going into the election? Are we, as a nation, that stupid to fall for it?

I mean, the news from Iraq was pretty terrible during the whole Swifty thing. Many U.S. soldier deaths. Plus the nefarious overtime rules. All obscured by O'Neill, Thurlow and company, with the help of the "news".
