1. Waxed paper and tape should work.

2. Just use dry erase markers.
They'll work fine on a glass screen. I used to use them in my classroom.

7. Nooooo, not all of them.
Some are AP certified as non-toxic. I do know what you're talking about. I've gotten light-headed in quite a few (non-school) meetings due to the vaporous type.

10. "AP certified as non-toxic" is an industry con job. Request the MSDS
and you will see that they are in fact VOS products!

I've been down this road after blacking out in front of my class the day I started using fresh markers!
And when I tried to get my college to do something about it, what dried up was my job!

15. What evidence do you have the "AP certified as non-toxic" is an industry con job?
Is it ACMI that is corrupt? Or ASTM?

I'm confused about your suggestion to get the MSDS. By definition, MSDS are only available for hazardous materials. If a material is certified as not containing hazardous materials, it won't have an MSDS sheet. I checked. There are no MSDS sheets for the markers I am talking about.

There are some dry-erase markers that contain non-toxic inks, but hazardous solvents. Those DO have an MSDS sheet. The markers I am talking about do not.

Sorry to hear about your job.

17. I requested the MSDS from the manufacturer of the non-toxic labeled marker
and they sent it to me. It contains Volatile Organic Solvents.

AP (Approved Product) = What do the ACMI Seals mean? http://www.acminet.org/Safety.htm

The Art & Creative Materials Institute, Inc. (ACMI) is a non-profit association of manufacturers of art, craft and other creative materials.

AP (Approved Product) Seal ... identifies art materials that are safe and that are certified in a toxicological evaluation by a medical expert to contain no materials in sufficient quantities to be toxic or injurious to humans, including children, or to cause acute or chronic health problems.

The Assoc. of Manufacturers hires their own expert! Notice how carefully nuanced the above standard is!
Dry erase markers are TOXIC and contain VOSs. It is right in the MSDS. But, they are sold as toys!!!

18. What was the name/brand of the marker?
Just to clarify was it labelled both AP and non-toxic? Do I need to worry about my son's crayons and tempera paint?

Thanks!

Winky Dink, and you
Winky Dink, and me
Always have a lot of fun together
Winky Dink, and You
Winky Dink, and me
We'll be pals in fair or stormy weather.

All the kids who heard
Winky's magic words
Make a wish and then they all shout Winko

What a big surprise
Right before their eyes
Wishes do come true from saying Winko

Presto, Chango that's a thing of the past
Winko, Winko works twice as fast

Winky Dink, and you
Winky Dink, and me
Always have a lot of fun together
Winky Dink, and You
Winky Dink, and me
We'll be pals in fair or stormy weather
