New Ad To Run In Minneapolis Is All About McCain's POW Past
To our knowledge, this new ad from the South Carolina Republican Party is the first ad to focus exclusively on McCain's POW captivity.

The spot is set to run in Minneapolis starting tomorrow and through the GOP convention, a South Carolina GOP spokesperson confirms. It hits directly back at Obama for his criticism of McCain's number-of-houses flub: "This is the story of a John McCain home you might not know about," the ad opens, and follows with footage dramatizing McCain getting shot down. After showing shots of a prison cell, the spot continues:

"This is where John McCain was starved, beaten, tortured, and maimed for life. So the next time Barack Obama talks about one of John McCain's homes, remember this one."

The spot suggests that surrogates in the states will soon start pushing the POW-POW-POWing in earnest, in a way that even McCain himself might not be willing to do.

(This ad simply suggests McWorse will need at least 4 yrs. of babysitting IF the election is stolen for him and he makes it to living in the White House where his brain will move from POW cell to the real world, from the real world back into the POW cell. PLEASE! How lame is this ad?)

It doesn't. McSame would never have had a political career if he had not been a POW. Instead he would have been forgotten, a man who graduated near the bottom of his class, and had a strange propensity for crashing planes and/or getting shot down.

2. Counter Ad: Show The Homes Of New Orleans That Were Devasted
And show all the people who died, drowned and who have lost their homes and everything they have.

Then ask "Do you think these people give a Damn if the President is a former POW?"

3. Better -- show detainees at Guantanamo
They all have McCain beat by a couple of years or so.

6. Excellent -- Underscore his obsession with his own suffering and...
and total disreguard for how the American people have suffered.

5. He has to go back how many years to have something worthwhile to report?
Has he done anything worthwhile since he was what 25 and survived as a POW?

9. Perhaps someone should use one of the propaganda interviews
he gave while he was in captivity and use that in an ad.

I know the National Archives has the tape of his broadcast on June 2, 1969, it is in the CIA records and copies can be obtained from the Sound and Moing Image Branch of NARA:

HANOI SERVICE TO VIETNAM IN ENGLISH. STATEMENT OF LT. CMDR. JOHN SIDNEY MCCAIN, 06/02/1969 ARC
Identifier 104622 / Local Identifier 263-BVA-2 Item from Record Group 263: Records of the
Central Intelligence Agency, 1894 - 2002

There are also several transcripts of interviews he gave in the POW database maintained at the Library of Congress, which can be searched here:

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/frd/powquery.html

One thing these transcripts make clear is that, despite what he claims, he gave them accurate information about his background and military operations (he claims that he made stuff up). Some of the tactical information could have cost the lives of other Americans.

There are rumored to be more than 30 recordings that he made. I don't know if this is true, but his efforts to keep POW records and his own military records under wraps suggests that he does have something ot hide.
