Breaking McCain campaign staffers working through the night
AP Dayton Ohio
Dewey Cheetham

As the last cinders of the fireworks came down on INVESCO Field the temporary headquarters for Senator McCain saw a spontaneous movement of 38 senior staffers and assistants all arrive in union reminiscent of the gold winning synchronized swimming team at the Olympics. As the staffers ran to their keyboards after stopping by the in house wet bar for their favorite drink it was clear that the campaign senior leaders and staffers were all determined to get an early start on rewriting the future of the campaign.

Without any coordination or brainstorming all 38 of the top staff went immediately to their workstations in the converted warehouse to work what was apparently plan "B" or "C" or possibly "Y" or "Z". The earnestness in their effort was in sharp contrast to the somewhat dimwitted effort that was witnessed earlier in the day when the same group came up with a pre-speech attack on Obama's coronation by suggesting that people should be wearing togas.

Insider sources tell us however that instead of working on an alternative plan for the McCain campaign that the staffers were busy rewriting their resumes in hopes of being the first ones out of the block. "In a situation like this placement is critical. The entire conservative hack job universe is going to be shrinking faster than the Northern Ice Caps" reported a tall 30-ish lanky balding staffer who was pleased that he was first out of the blocks. "Lets face it were not only looking at huge numbers leaving the sinking ship before the RNC convention opens its doors to welcome both Bush and Cheney, but there's going to be another wave of people coming out after Nov 4th when the Senators and Congressman are voted out of office, I mean how many writers can the AP CNN FOX and ABC absorb?".
