Some of us need this Israeli spy thing put in perspective
I see a lot of people asking the same questions I'm thinking. I'm not as informed as a lot of you folks are. Would someone mind connecting the dots for us and putting this whole story in perspective? Pretty please? :-)

1. Someone in Douglas Feith's office was
passing secrets to Israel. They were passing our 'plans' for Iran. Feith is the number three person in the Pentagon.

Someone on MSNBC (Larry Johnson, former CIA analyst) said that the spy is the same person who wrote the fake Niger/uranium document, which was investigated by Joe Wilson, whose wife (Victoria Plame) was outed by Bob Novak.

To speculate, it's possible that this was part of a backchannel to Israeli intelligence. Information went both ways, to achieve the common goal of invading Iraq and neutralizing Iran's nuclear capability.

Buchanan on MSNBC may have implied that the uranium document went from the Pentagon to Israeli intelligence to Italian intelligence and then back to the CIA.

3. Or maybe the uranium memo was part of Israeli plots to egg Bush on to war
Maybe the uranium yellow cake memo originated in Israel and was part of a larger effort to ensure Bush went into a war that he was eager for anyway. Doing Israeli bidding, unwittingly, to get rid of a Middle East adversary.

4. that was my first thought. the administration was overripe to go to war
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 08:31 PM by faithnotgreed
and of course the israelis would have ways to know that. i mean cheney is showing prince bandar the layout plans before even powell knew about it.

the administration sure didnt need anything much to hang their war on (which is and was obvious) so they took what was given to them incl chalabi etc and with that they rocketed instead of walked

5. If people thought Social Security was the "Third Rail" of politics...
THIS is the genuine third rail. We have to be very careful to get the facts right on this...very, very careful or we will alienate a ton of people. We have to have our facts right and we have to be able to make the point that a foreign government...any foreign goverment...even a friendly foreign government...should never have this much control over US foreign policy. This is going to be a hairball!
