My little tin foil hat theory of SBVT/Kerry/Bush
Remember back when, Kerry said he might not accept the nomination in Boston. That would leave the whole month of August as a Bush freebie for advertising, since he didn'thave the $$$.

There are 250 people at least involved in the SBVT book. Now I don't know about you, but in my family, 3 people can't keep a secret for more than 24 hours.

Kerry HAD to know by now about his error in the Christmas in Cambodia thing.

Bush's service record was never really explained fully, but more or less had fallen off the radar.

Now, I'm NOT saying it happened like this. I'm just saying that maybe, in a kinda fuuny way, possibly could have come down like this...

Kerry gets a call back in the early spring from the best friend of a wife of a cousin of a husband of a SBVT. They say John, they're gonna come out with a book and they're gonna question your service, your medals, etc. Kerry thinks for a minute... SHIT... now what the hell am I gonna do... So on the down low... he calls Carville (or some other political op, but Carville fits the scenario)... Carvile asks if there's any truth, John says no, but I did fuck up about Cambodia. I didn't lie, I just got the time wrong. Carville, now wetting his pants, says John, shut your mouth, don't say a goddamn word to anyone until I get back to you. Carville calls back a week later and says... Ok this is how it's gonna go down. August is a dead month. You can't advertise. But remember the mantra, bad press is better than no press. At the DNC, push your service. That'll piss off O''Neill (who Carville found out was in charge of the SBVT, and also the $$$ backers). He'll come out with his book ASAP. They'll do the 24 hour news cycles for weeks. We lay low, let 'em rip. The Cambodian will add to the look that there is something that smells. Your numbers will take a hit, but not with the base. It'll keep your name in the news with no money comng out of your pocket. Now John, here's the sweet part. Let them make you look real bad... then the week before the RNC, we'll shoot a shot across the bow about O'Niell. Questions will start. Then we'll let it out who's financing this thing. Then we need a hail Mary pass. We need someone above question to come right out and say Bush is behind this. I was thinking of Max Cleland. He's still pissed about what fuckboy did to him. Now the attention is starting to turn back to Bush. That will HAVE to lead back to Bush's service records, or lack of. The RNC hits, and the questions being asked will not only be about you, John, but about financing, and Max's accusations, and about Bush's service. After the RNC, Bush will be on the defense for his service and trashing vets. You can take the high road, and point directly at Bush and say see what he did again... His number will drop like a rock, you'll be vindicated. He won't have the time to recoup before the election.

Or, maybe not... Just a thought...

4. He couldn't have been in Cambodia on Christmas Eve 1968
under Nixon's orders...

Nixon wasn't sworn in until January 1969.

3. I don't think
Kerry would be concerned in the least about having gone on the record as mistaken about the timing of his being in Cambodia. In fact, i would think he would consider accusations like this to be a trojan horse within the Bush defensive walls.
I like your take though.
