According to this list of final poll results from the 2000 presidential race, 3 pollsters nailed the race Zogby, Fox and CBS. Kerry currently leads in all of these polls.

1. it is good to see a trend
but in my opinion nothing counts until there is a lead outside of the margin of error. hopefully we can get that soon. The good part is that they don't have that either. And trends favor the challenger. But I will feel safer when we see a few leads that are outside the margin of error. Like the trend though.

2. I know what you mean
But none of those final results were outside there MOE. If you click on the link you will see how bad Rasmussen did in 2000. The poll was called the portrait of america poll and he was off by 9 points. He since abandoned that website and started a new one after his name. Thats why he gets trashed on DU alot.

7. Thanks for the
good information! It helps. I am cautiously optimistic about the elction (but I have moments where I feel suicidal and scared). I think the debates will be the big thing for us. I have heard that Kerry is very good at debates. But I would like to hear more from any Mass. people who can tell us more about his style. I am looking forward to good debates that will put us in a substantial lead.

3. true
but Zogby and CBS are a little behind the newest batch of polls. I will be interested in what new numbers they will have. The sky is not falling, but there is no doubt that Kerry was hurt by the slime ball ads. It doesn't have to be a lasting damage. My guess is that Bush will be five points up after his convention then things will even out again by mid September. The country is thinking we are moving in the wrong direction in most polls and Bush's approval ratings on many issues from the economy to Iraq are poor--Kerry still hasn't been able to sell himself to the country. The debates are going to count in this election like no other since 1960.

14. I agree with you on that point, too.
I don't get how an interactive poll can take a random sample.

But I never looked into it either.

6. Wouldn't Zogby be more accurate because of all the online polling?
They are the only ones I'm aware of who do extensive online polling. I would think that would give them a much larger base to analize.

9. Not enough!
We need to break the margin of error, and it needs to be big.
Otherwise we run the risk of them being able to fix the election and there will be nothing to back it up.

10. My only point
Is Kerry is leading in the polls that matter. The Margin of error did not effect the reality of the 3 polls.
