The spy story and repuke convention
A 1-2 punch that should slay the Swift Dolts for good.

In fact, the spy story has some potential to distract from the RNC.

If for nothing else, it may stifle some of the whining about the alleged effectiveness of the Swift Dolt ads and crying about the polls.

1. Even better
will be if the spy story drowns out (or provides a nice counter-beat backbeat) to the RNC.

As far as I'm concerned, the SB BS can carry on, because I think the worm is turning on that, and it'll hurt bush in the long run.

5. Media dropped the ball on this one
When that whole Niger thing came out as forged documents, I wondered who did it. What I'm trying to figure it is why in the blue blazes didn't anyone ask?

I know it's not all the media's fault, but a huge chunk of blame falls into their lap. There was a time when they would have been all over this and dug up who, what, when, where and why.

I think Rumsfeld and all those assholes at the pentagon knew. I'll bet anything that Cheney sure as hell knew, too.

I wonder if they finally found out who it was that leaked Plame's name to Novak which led to the rest of this.

Yep, it'll blow wide open and this administration will take a major hit. It's just got to happen before Nov. 2 and we can't let the press take a break on this thing.

Cyn:)

7. I like your optimism!
I know better than to get my expectations high for anything to upset the regime... the economy is where I always put my chips for that to happen... but as long as this takes up SPACE on the news channels, it will have done its minimum duty. The RNC convention will get the same minimal coverage as the DNC, and little of substance will be reported, unless a protest turns bloody.

Stay tuned to Cyn at nite! ;-)

17. Watching the news with new eyes
It's only been in the last few months that I've really started paying more attention to how reporting is being done in this country. I always hated Fox so not watching that isn't an issue.

CNN was okay and I used to like Wolf. He pisses me off too much now to watch. Now the only programs I watch is the morning show and Aaron Brown.

MSNBC is my primary televised news source.

I was very disappointed with the coverage of the DNC and CNN's coverage of the RNC looks like it'll outweigh anyone elses with their tribute to shrub along with their other biased reporting.

So now I'm hoping this thing will continue to grow and at the very least take Rummy down.

Cyn:)

18. take it from this old-timer

CNN has always been right-wing, but used to be more subtle with it. This was during the Reagan era and Bush 1 as well, mind you. :-)

They would hawk Reagan's SDI, and run fluff pieces on Dan Quayle... and then Bernie Shaw's attempt to humiliate Dukakis in the debate. They were huge cheerleaders for the 'smart bombs' killing Iraqi civilians in the first Gulf War. Wolf was always a big offender.

They weren't as kind to Clinton as some Repubs tell it. That is why they love Fox News and hate CNN - they want to be soaking in fascist propaganda - have it bludgeoning them like a lead hammer the only way they understand, not have it artfully presented as CNN did.

But subtlety is lost on most people (including some older DUers under the impression that CNN was EVER liberal, that floors me).

I only like MSNBC for Olbermann, and CNN for Brown, whom I used to watch on local Seattle TV many years ago.

Appreciate your comments! :-)

3. the other had gotten its mileage
September and October, where it gets good - the debates especially.

I think above all, I am sicker of the wailing and gnashing of teeth on here (and being told we're blind, idiots, etc.) than I am of the media flogging it. I think.

6. it was supposed to do that anyway
So this way, it isn't as dominant as hoped for by the planners (GOP or media). Even a 10% reduction in dominance is good. We must take the plums where we can pick 'em.

What really got my blood roiling today was Bush saying he "miscalculated". It's easy for him to piss us off, but this exceeded anything he had done since 'Mission Accomplished'. :nuke:

I don't think my TV has been subjected to such a verbal onslaught in months! ;-)

8. Influential Democrats have to make the media cover this.
A Democrat of some stature needs to stand up and accuse the Bush* administration of TREASON! That is exactly what the Repugs would do if the situation were reversed (remember Wen Ho Lee and Clinton/Richardson?). The media could not ignore that.

Once that charge was out there, the Repugs would be on the defensive big time. It would overshadow that fiction in NYC.

Unfortunately, we don't have any Democrats who would do it. If only Michael Moore was a Senator!!!!

15. Clark has talked a lot about Iran and how it could be an Oct. surprise
used by the Bushies...I bet he wouldn't hesitate to go after Bush.

Let's see what Wolf allows him to talk about on Sunday....

16. How about Max Cleland?
Or Bob Kerrey? They're not running for anything so they could say something. Or Ted Kennedy. He doesn't have to particularly worry about getting re-elected. Or hell, just get Michael Moore to say it anyway.

That this really drowns out the Swift Boat vets for good. We need them gone. This is something the media can't possibly ignore.
