Its getting ugly Kerry supporter punches Bush supporter on TV in WA
I just saw it on NBC5 in Chicago (late news). A Kerry supporter is holding up a Kerry/Edwards sign in front of the TV cameras and a guy holding a Bush/Cheney sign invades his space, the Kerry/Edwards guy (who is shorter) turns around and clocks the Bush/Cheney supporter in the face. The Kerry/Edwards supporter was promptly arrested.

4. I do not condone this attack
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 11:23 PM by bluestateguy
But the Bush/Cheneyite guy who got slugged should use this event as a learning experience, an opportunitty for self-reflection and self-reexamination. He should ask himself: What might I have done to bring this attack on myself? What policies of this Administration might be pushing some people too far over the edge? How can I do my part to not provoke people in the future?

and I think their operatives are only getting warmed up for NYC, where they will be key in smearing protestors and in inciting the worst violence possible.

Looked at the clip and it's clear the dumb promise-keeper type shithead behind the Kerry/Edwards guy was fuckin' with the guy. And the Kerry/Edwards guy just had a spontaneous agressive reaction.

But dirty tricks are happening and there are more to come. And I'd be very unsurprised to see GOP ops inciting rioting in NYC.

33. "Clocks" the other one? I'm sorry but.. Bwahahaahahahahah
We aren't suppose to resort to violence, I know. The other side likes to make that their domain. However, this IS a tense campaign. I've read any number of stories on DU of Dems being hassled, attacked, threatened etc. by RWers.

Depending on the situation we are talking about here (haven't read the article yet), it shouldn't be any wonder that emotions are running high. If a person shoves into another's space, they shall most likely get a "reaction". :smoke:

I REPEAT, I'm NOT condoning outright violence.

39. bullshit
Look, there are many areas in this country where I'd fear for my life protesting a Bush visit, but we have to rise above right-wing wackos. This doesn't help our cause and is just another side-show for media who crave imagery like this so they don't have to report on real issues or real news such as spies in the Pentagon. I guarantee Faux will be splashing this clip all weekend since the typical thought is that Republicans are hostile, gun-toting, angry freaks -- not "Latte drinking Democrats from Seattle".

Some goddamned freeper tried running me off the road because he saw me drinking from a Kerry/Edwards water bottle in my car. I refused to back down and figured we'd be in a fight before too long, but then he turned off.

48. Read this first
Every Saturday from before the war and through the war, an 80 year old couple went down to a busy intersection and protested from 10-12. We're a small town, everybody knew they'd be there, with various other protestors at times as well. This one day, a 45 year old freeper decides he's going to show them what's what. He goes down there with his sign and shoves his way right in front of the old lady. They had words, she absolutely refused to budge, and he finally relented. But then he boasts about it, all over town. He boasts about pushing around an 80 year old lady!!!

They're the absolute scum of the earth. I hate them. I don't condone smacking somebody but dammit, this bullying garbage has got to stop.

Having said that, I am not sure about the details, so I cannot really know whether it was justified or not, probably not. And of course the thing could have been staged but I seriously doubt that.

But I got to say, I am pretty pissed myself and will not back down one gaddamn inch.

These pricks won't stop, and it is very hard to give them quarter.

Seriously, I would hazard to guess that these two had been getting on each other's nerves for a while based on that outburst. I couldn't tell how close the Bushite was when the Dem freaked but he wasn't pushing in front of him because all I saw was the Kerry sign then he turns and BAM! lol. The freeper looked ready to hightail it outta there too....

It's wrong, of course. But then again, it does send a message that we will not be intimidated or fucked with in any way, either.
