Wes Clark back on tour with Kerry
Got this email, and thought I'd share. He'll be on Leslie's CNN show tomorrow.

August 27, 2004

Fresh off a campaign swing to the West Coast, I wanted to send you a quick email updating you on Wes Clark’s recent activities and some exciting upcoming events.

First, this Saturday, August 28th, General Clark will appear with John Kerry at a rally in Tacoma, WA. For those of you in the area, the rally will be held in Parking Lot B at the Tacoma Dome, with gates opening at 9:30am. For more information, please call (206) 331-3859.

Then on Sunday, General Clark will be appearing on CNN’s “Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer” between noon and 2pm ET. We hope you will be able to catch this important interview.

And on Monday, General Clark will travel to North Carolina to campaign with John Edwards in this key Southern state. General Clark and Senator Edwards will appear at an event at 10:30am ET at Kenan Auditorium at UNC-Wilmington. For those of you in the area, please call (910) 343-8000 for ticket information.

General Clark is really looking forward to returning to the campaign trail with John Kerry and John Edwards! The next three days promise to be exciting, and they come on the heels of a very successful week campaigning for two key Senate races out west.

Last Thursday, General Clark spent a terrific day campaigning with Senator Patty Murray (http://www.pattymurray.com) in Washington State. They visited with several high-tech companies providing new services for the military, watched a demonstration of the Navy's new Sea Fox unmanned boat, and met with leaders of the Veterans for Murray organization.

Then, on Friday and Saturday, General Clark traveled to Alaska to campaign with Tony Knowles (http://www.tonyknowles.com) in his U.S. Senate race. As General Clark mentioned in an email last week, Governor Knowles’ race is extremely important, as it represents a good opportunity for the Democrats to pick up a seat and change the balance of power in the Senate. General Clark and Governor Knowles appeared together across Alaska, finishing up in Anchorage for a community barbeque over lunch.

Over all three days of the West Coast swing, we received a warm, enthusiastic reception from local supporters and veterans. It was a great trip.

Thanks to your support, Wes Clark and WesPAC are making a real difference in this November’s election. Please spread the word and tell your friends and family to join us. We look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail over the next 67 days.

Sincerely,

Catherine Grunden
Executive Director

7. clark would be great at any top spot, particularly secretary of state,
and having clark at his side during the remainder of the campaign would be a big plus for kerry.

4. My daughter heard on the radio
that he's going to be speaking at Ripon College (in WI) mid-September. I have to find out about that - I would love to see him again, and my daughter said she would want to come with me, as well.

JEEZ, we could sure use his wisdom and strength and composure right now... I guess I should be glad he doesn't have to be subjected to SwiftSmear tactics, however... that would be way too painful to watch.

Maybe painful for the Smearvets. My dream was a Clark candidacy with Rove trying this BS. That would be a fitting end to Rove's career.

his NATO decision considering that not one U.S. soldier lost their lives in that conflict, which was the ONLY NATO War fought and won under his command. It is hard to criticize a successful war.....especially when contrasted with Iraq (which Clark was against).

Being labeled GOPer would not have been a bad thing....considering he would have been running against Bush (PNAC GOP). Isn't that why McCain was rumored for VP.....to attract GOPers and Indys? The GOP thing was only useful during the primaries.

Their lies on Clark were already debunked during the primary. The lack of press is what did Clark in.....not his qualifications and past actions. Since Clark did not have the DNC nor the media backing him (as he would as nominee) during the primaries, the smears were somewhat effective at driving his poll numbers down. Also, keep in mind that many favorable press stories were written in the press back in 1999-2000 about General Clark ...during the Kosovo War and even shortly after Cohen and Shelton engineered his "early" retirement. Mainstream publications like NYT, etc...had powerful stories faulting the Pentagon and the Republicans for not being on board of the only sucessful NATO war.

The only negative rumor that lived a useful life during the primaries was the Shelton smear...and Shelton refuted his statement on Clark's character during the Milosovich trial by admitting that it was "just politics" (Shelton's word).

And don't forget that he's crazy!

And that he had to beg for a promotion.

Sorry, just reminiscing about the weak RW talking points.

21. SHUT THE BLOG DOWN! Here's a few examples of why...
(BTW Fang is the newest insulting name for Edwards from the Clarkies.)

by noelschutz (noelschutz@yahoo.com) on 08/27/2004 08:57:45 PM EST
WES: No,no, Fang. Not a smile. C'mon, you can do it. Look intent, look serious, look like you just lost a trial and are madder than hell!

FANG: Loose a trial! Now that would be something to get angry about.

WES: Okay, pretend that this campaign is a trial. Bush is on trial and you have to tear his argument to shreds to get a huge judgement against him.

FANG: Hey, I think I've got it. Like the Dems are suing Bush for malpractice and we are going for trillions in judgement. And the voters are the 12 angry men of the jury!

WES: By Golly, I think you've got it. The rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain
That's great Noel...

If just .00001% of Wes rubs off on Edwards, things will be good.

08/27/2004 06:07:32 PM EST
Rate me down on this if you want, but....
John Edwards shouldn't be the one talking about how people are losing their health insurance since he and his fellow trial lawyers are direct contributors to rapidly escalating insurance premium costs which are causing companies to drop coverage or send the jobs overseas where they don't have to worry it

08/27/2004 02:39:55 PM EST Just peeking in and saw this. My thoughts are to just let Edwards continue to pis* in the wind. The election isn't really about him anyway and the less he's seen the better, IMO. If I were Wes I wouldn't want to give him the time of day, but then.. I'm not Wes. Urggh! I STILL WANT WES CLARK 4 PRESIDENT!!!!! :-( - LA

Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 04:41 PM by Frenchie4Clark
Saying what they want to say on the "Clark Blog". They don't have to toe any line. Clark supporters are not Wes Clark....they are only his supporters.

Sounds like facism to say that they should have to shut down a blog because some of it's members are not in love with John Edwards like you are.

What Clark stands for is freedom of Speech and the right to dissent. One doesn't have to love or even approve of Edwards to support Kerry. Or do they?

I am surprised that you go and read what going on the Clark Blog, anyway. Must have a lot of time on your hands.

There are some intelligent posters on the Clark blog and I enjoy reading their contributions. I do the same on many other sites.
The Clark blog has been warned several times by their moderators about the attacks on K/E but the same old 3rd grade "trash the ticket" talk continues.

Clark Blog. The warnings must have came from other posters. There is a "rating system" on the blog. It's democracy at it best.

Don't need to snuff out voices cause some don't appreciate Edwards' qualifications. 99% of those on that blog are ABB. That is sufficient in my world. Nobody has to love the ticket, just cause you do.

The Democratic party is a large umbrella, didn't you know. Also, I think the Democratic party (in particular, the DNC) has done more on its own to destroy itself than any Clark Blog (that most can't find anyway or are looking for).

No one "trashes the ticket"...even if some have qualified reservation to the kerry's campaign's approach and to the selection of Edwards.

Many of these same folks are working hard to elect congressional members to the house and senate. Why don't you ever mention that?

Not everyone has to be required to be in love with Edwards (just cause you are). That's your take, your spin, and a lot of whining. Pringles don't come in people packages.

Democracy is messy.....

It's just the way it is.......

about Edwards and Kerry but I note none of those in your post. From what I have read the Clark supporters have donated money to the WesPac candidates and are out there working for Kerry. There are those here who have differences with Kerry or Edwards or others in the dem party. They express those differences and it is debated through posts just like at the Clark site. Lockstep is for the repubs or so I thought.

And some of us who used to be regular posters here no longer do so because of the "lockstep" mentality.
There really ARE Independents out here who aren't thrilled with the ticket - but HATE Bush.
At the Clark blog, we can be critical without people flaming us.

28. Gee, that was just terrible stuff!
Duh!

The Clark people, for the most part, have been among the most loyal, most supportive of the Kerry/Edwards ticket.

And here at DU, except for a few minor incidents, there has been NO bashing at all.

So try being as gracious as the Clarkies.

You do not post here very often, & I resent you coming here & dropping turd pellets among us.

And remember, we still live in America, & we still have freedom of speech.

You should just be grateful that Wes Clark is out there, campaigning so hard for the ticket, & for Dems all over the country. Instead of bashing Clarkies, why don t you try posting something nice about Clark.
