1. I told my husband
I plan to get my news this week from DU and the internet. Will only turn on news if someone here says there's something important on. Other than that, it's Overhaulin' and Trading Spaces for me.

4. Will Pitt will be covering the RNC for truthout.
If you've never seen it, it's a great site.

Yes, thanks!
My husband reads truthout every day. He'll read me a truthout article and then I'll read him something from DU. These are our main news information sites.

14. I watched the dnc on cspan
from the moment I got home from work 4:30 to the adjourning gavel every night. I preferred cspan instead of the networks blah blah blah, talking over the speeches.

I too will watch a little of the rnc just to hear what lies they are spewing. But I'll watch it on network so I can also hear the crap the anchors have to say.

My husband thinks I'm crazy for making myself mad but he won't stop me from watching.

22. I'm a news junkie. Internet. NPR. Democracy Now. Shortwave. PBS. I haven't
had cable for three years, and I feel happier, smarter and better informed because I spend less time listening to propganda and more time reading and listening to and watching news that is way less compromised than cable.

I watched the Dem convention on CSPAN, by the way.

24. first day i was so frustrated with cable news
and someone suggest cspan, and especially after the cutting off sharpton, kept it on cspan. was terrific. now this convention, i couldnt stomach the repugs lies and speeches, just cant. my only interest would be the spin from media feeders what they are convincing the people.

where this does help me, talking to alllllll the people around me, all repugs, as soon as they start, i know the talking point, who fed them what. before their arguement

26. Still, if you want to be informed, cancel cable.
Watching cable news does the opposite of informing you. It misinforms you and makes you stupid.

Nice short sentences!

Still, think about canceling cable.

It's all about which direction the dollar flows.

19. elfin: Great Book to read this week
S.M. Stirling's latest: "Dies the Fire"

One line: "It wasn't taking thr trip well; cats seldom did, being furry little Republicans with an inbuilt aversion to change."

It's Sci-Fi, but one hell of an adventure tale.

23. I plan to watch some of the debacle, and I'll tell you why ...
... I watched a lot of the "off hours" of the Democratic National Convention, because it helped me see who some of the movers and shakers are in the party -- the people the party chose to put forward to speak on its behalf ... some of whom I'd never heard of. It also helped me see who some of the future leaders of the party might be. Like Mayor O'Malley of Baltimore -- was given a dry topic (homeland security for cities) but he still made his speech compelling! And he's a doll!

For this reason, I may watch at least some of the "off hours" of the RNC, to see who our future enemies/rivals are, and what their rhetoric is all about. We have to know the enemy. You don't have to watch ... I'll summarize what I see for y'all, if you're interested.

My stomach will be churning -- I'm buying a lot of Pepcid, Tums, and anti-diarrheal medication today in preparation -- but I'm going to try to watch/tape a few hours of the Repug crap.

30. I have cox cable and enjoy
a lot of the cable programming. As an LBN mod, I read LOTS and LOTS of news. I probably won't watch much of the convention, if any, but I'll enjoy lots of other programs.

Of course my husband would never try to tell me to stop watching t.v. -- if he knows what's good for him. ( Actually, he's in there watching sports and I'm reading DU )
