Who is Thomas Lipscomb and why is the Chicago S-T giving him a byline?
Today the Chicago Sun-Times is running an article (not op-ed, an F'ing article) by Thomas Lipscomb that is picked up by Drudge (Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief). Should this man be considered a journalist? He is a columnist but any of his writings, especially those critical of John Kerry should be put in the opinion section, not the news section. Let me share my research.

The article: http://www.suntimes.com/output/elect/cst-nws-lips28.html

Some of Lipscombs bio's:

From today's Sun-Times: Thomas Lipscomb is chairman of the Center for the Digital Future in New York.

From Jewish World Review: JWR contributor Thomas H. Lipscomb, the founder of Times Books, is a contributing columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and The New York Sun, where a shorter version of this story first appeared.

From American Spectator:
Thomas Lipscomb was the chairman of the New York Vietnam Veterans' Leadership Program which worked to develop employment of heavily minority area veterans. He is the founder of Times Books.

Able to say he didn't approve it, didn't see it--yet he has an autopen, his signature goes on so much stuff?

What a dick.

6. I sometimes man the John Kerry autopen at HQ in DC...
There is no way that the autopen machine operator is ever anywhere near the original documents (or copies).

An authorized person brings you the pages to be signed and picks them up a few minutes later.

This is a crock of the worst kind of shit!

3. My reason for raising this point is. . .
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 10:53 AM by wndycty
. . .that the Sun-Times is running his piece in the news section and I am not sure if anything written by this man should be considered news. I know they do it with Novack, but this is different this guy is not an employee of the paper nor does he work for a wire. Obviously the Sun-Times and NY Sun use his pieces but if you look at the bio the S-T ran on him they do not mention that.
