Inspiration from Dean Dozen candidate in SC race.
http://www.blogforamerica.com/archives/005014.html
Inspired and endorsed by Governor Dean, Ken Campbell is running for State House in South Carolina. He is a Dean Dozen candidate. He updates us today on the increasing optimism of his campaign.

From idealism... to hope... to planning... to execution to...holy cow, we can win this thing! That's kind of how I feel about the Campbell For House campaign here in South Carolina. In February of this year, I decided to heed Gov. Dean's call to action and announced my candidacy for the S.C. House of Representatives. I was a political outsider. Unknown to the yellow dog Democrats and a political joke to the powerful Republican Party. With a grassroots plan, some guts, and a lot of meetings and phone calls, I began to build my support network.

The common-sense, progressive ideas of my campaign began to resonate immediately. Volunteers began to appear. Young people. Older people. College students. Entire families. I began to realize that my ideas were not just mine... they were ours. At my first speech, people opened their checkbooks with contributions, validating our ideas. Soon we were at $1000, then $2000 (the most a Democrat had raised to run for this seat in 10 years).... and with the Dean Dozen endorsement, $2000 soon became $5000. Six months later, we've raised over $14,000 and will likely finish over $20,000 by October."

3. I am surprised there is so little interest in congressional races now.
Maybe I am missing the threads, just not seeing it. This is amazing that this guy from a very conservative SC county could collect so much money for his campaign. I remember when he first started his campaign, and I think he was one of the very first Dean Dozens. He was one of the first I wrote and donated to, and I was amazed at the way I was so aware of races around the country.

It is very important.
