I just returned from the NYC Pro-Choice March
It was absolutely thrilling to be part of this enormous group that marched across the Brooklyn Bridge. I have no idea of how many were there, but the organizers said that 20,000 more people than expected showed up. We had to wait in line about a half hour before we got to the entrance to the bridge.

We were all ages and types -- a few eccentrics, but otherwise ordinary, normal folk. We chanted slogans as we paraded across. We carried signs, most of which had been printed and handed out, but mine was homemade and said "Save Our Democracy." Apparently a lot of people liked it because about twenty photos were taken of it.

I've been to many other protests and demonstrations, but I would rank this one close to the top.

Not too many
There were about fifteen at the end of the bridge and another ten or so a block later. They had signs that said things like "Democrats are baby killers" and the usual tripe. There were also several marchers with "Republicans for Choice" signs.

As we were walking across the bridge many cars honked their horns in support and gave us "thumbs up" signs.

3. I saw it on the news
The part I liked the best was when they said everyone was peaceful even when the two groups saw each other. Way to go! I know the Bushies would love to throw any violence at us.

5. Thank you so much! I know the feeling you have
because of being in New York City on Feb 15, 2003. It was the absolute best in the whole World.

8. I am very glad you and so many others did this
because a lot of younger women take this right for granted.

15. I just call myself
an old bag. But geezerette is great, LOL.

PS have you noticed what I said about the "kids" taking choice for granted. I have seen it in women (the "kids" to me) in their 20s.

14. Yes, quite a few
And some had their little children with them.

I wish I could go in tomorrow and the rest of the week to march, but I'm totally exhausted. But it was worth it.

18. I was thrilled there were so many men back in April!
THanks for being there. That was one amazing march for sure! Such an awesome event plus I got to meet many DUers. :)

I'm sorry I can't be there in NY. Be safe, have fun, and know that the rest of DU is marching with you in spirit!

17. AWESOME! Good job!
I was in DC in April; I know the feeling of being part of something so large and powerful. That's great that there was no violent behavior that the media could hone in on. :kick:

19. Thanks for being there!!
I. too. was part of the DC march in April. The feeling was just awesome - having so many women and men joined in the cause of Choice.

If we don't stand up for our rights they'll be taken from us. Thank you for doing your part today. You all looked fantastic!!!
