Karen Hughes: "what another 4 years of a Bush presidency would look like"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&u=/ap/20040828/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_convention_rdp_5

NEW YORK - Abortion-rights protesters and the first Republican delegates descended on President Bush (news - web sites)'s heavily fortified convention city Saturday as campaign officials said their boss would use the nomination spotlight to defend his hawkish foreign polices and offer a second-term agenda for health care, education and job training.

"He believes it's important for a candidate to talk about what he's done and, most important, where he wants to lead," said adviser Karen Hughes, aboard Bush's campaign bus in Ohio. "The speech is very forward-looking. It talks about what another four years of a Bush presidency would look like."

Democratic rival Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) said most voters won't look kindly on another term for the Republican. "For the last four years, we've had a dark cloud over Washington," Kerry told supporters on an overcast day in Washington state. "We're going to get rid of it on Nov. 2."

Hughes said Bush will argue that the world and the nation are changing rapidly in the new century, forcing U.S. leaders to adapt. While a desire for stability guided foreign policy for decades, "now we recognize that only when our values and beliefs in freedom are able to take hold will we see our security improve."

1. Karen Hughes thinks I'm a Terrorist

Because I was one of the 1.2 Million Pro-Choice Marchers in DC on April 25. She can stuff a sock in it. I know what 4 more years of Bush would look like. Shit.

4. The New Century Is Forcing US Leaders To Adapt? LOL!
Neo-Cons are the last of their species. Reptiles soon to be extinct. They can't adapt because they don't allow their highter brain functions to dominate their decision making.

6. Man that's red-meat shit I can sink my teeth into! Thank's Karen!
I love those action terms like "forward looking," and "look like." I'm sure our "values and beliefs in freedom" will kill the evil doers and put a plump, slightly-less-than-toxic chicken in every pot.

12. Another "Kerry is not afraid of showing the whole crowd" photo
No close-cropped, pre-screened fawning devotees for this guy...everybody that shows up ends up in the picture.

10. "Our values"
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 08:45 PM by JLFinch
What does that mean? HER values? Shrub's values? Smear, lie, cheat, hate and then smear, lie, cheat and hate some more? I'm not to sure the rest of the world would be all that excited to hear that Shrub's and Hughes' "VALUES" are going to forced upon them some more...

15. That's what you'll be seeing more of...the "us" factor...
There was quite a bit of smoke a while back about "Cheney doesn't understand US" and "Bush doesn't understand US"...you know, the still-shrinking middle class that gets up in the morning and goes to work (if we're lucky enough to still have a job)...NOT the son of wealth, the "Connecticut Cowboy" who looked back fondly over doing "a lot of fishing" at the Crawford Pig Farm last week on his "vacation."

BUT...at the time of the "US" remarks, the Swift Boat scheme was still in the embryonic stage...we were preparing to "deliver sovereignty" to the "new Iraqi government," so The Boy King was anticipating a MASSIVE win...and the media had not yet posted any "You know what? The economy DOES stink and the "new jobs" DO pay less articles. They were still regurgitating the tiresome John Snow talking points about job growth and "the economy firing on all cylinders." Then they woke up and smelled the frappucino.

In short, Rove and Hughes thought "We have this one in the bag."

Kerry proved to be a LOT tougher than they anticipated. After wiping his backside with the American middle class for the last three and a half years, Bush has TWO MONTHS to convince us that he's "one of us." That he understands what we WANT, that he understands what we have LOST, that...he "understands." But he doesn't, and neither does Cheney. But they will work that one until it is red and raw because it's ALL THEY'VE GOT.

Good luck, Junior.

11. OMG!
"While a desire for stability guided foreign policy for decades, "now we recognize that only when our values and beliefs in freedom are able to take hold will we see our security improve."

Yeah, who in their right mind would want stability in the world?
Hughs has now admitted that what Shrub wants is instability?

13. Here's the Demonic Domestic Agenda of 4 More Years

************QUOTE********
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2004/08/25/bush_second_term/index.html

And you thought his first term was a nightmare
What Bush has planned for America if he wins.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Charles Tiefer

Aug. 25, 2004 | .... Under Bush's slogan of an "ownership society," the Republicans intend a long-term effort, using changes in Medicare, Social Security and taxes to pit better-off and worse-off Democrats against each other, offering all-but-irresistible incentives for some to desert the others -- and any progressive national coalition. .... A second-term Bush agenda will constantly impale Democrats on the dilemma of abandoning their poorer, sicker, older and minority groups, or seeing their better-off, healthier and younger members lured off to the other party. If it sounds like a political nightmare for the Democrats, that's because that's what it is planned to be. ....

16. What garbage!

In an interview, Bush told NBC's "Today" that Kerry "going to Vietnam was more heroic than my flying fighter jets. He was in harm's way and I wasn't. On the other hand, I served my country. Had my unit been called up, I would have gone."

Yeah, right. :eyes: He forgot to add:

"Of course, Ben Barnes got me into that champagne unit of TANG so I could be sure my unit would never be called up."

:grr:
