Time to drop the AWOL Bomb next week
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 10:14 AM by zulchzulu
I came to this conclusion after watching Fox News Sunday and was disgusted by Spittin' Brit, PNAC's Bill Kristol and the other clowns, except Juan Williams, who was trying to make points about the SBVFT lies to their rude but famously Murdochian interruptions. Polls practically bragging about how the lies are sticking was gleefully met with joy by Brit Hume. After all, he probably made up the poll.

Let Chimpy do his sideshow act at the GOP Contortion this week. Since nobody os going to watch it anyway, it wouldn't be worth it.

Drop the AWOL bomb after that. Do the unearned medal story, do the missing year story, do the leapfroging trick to get into the TANG. Maybe add his coke-snorting and DUI gigs too. Perhaps do an entire Chickenhawk parade with Bush, Cheney, Wolfie, Perle and others.

It's now war and we need to take the gloves off and go for Rove's jugular. Sink Chimpy's Ship of Fools.

1. Don't forget the false ad about him bein' in the Air Force, and the
quotes directly attributed to him:

"I've been to war and raised twins......"
"I continued flying with my unit for several years"

We really should organize it all in a thread and then blast it to the media.

chimpy had several chances to denounce the swift liars but didn't. It's payback time, and we'll decide when it's over.

4. Good point
We need to push this and be relentless.

Smacking Cheney hard with his secret no-bid contracts for Halliburton and other secret meetings would also be good once Cheney is firmly on the ticket. Wait on that one until we get closer to the VP debate in October. Cheney already has a lot of negatives, so not mouch money needs to go to his sorry ass.

9. "It's payback time, and we'll decide when it's over."
Woo hoo! Now them's fightin' words, and I for one would *love* to hear them on one of the prime time political shows, from a Dem. Or they could just say "We'll decide when it's over", and proceed to bring up the payback talking points.

So yes: we need to bring up the following talking points.

AWOL: Bush's military records are incomplete, mysteriously so since military records are kept in triplicate and shipped to different places for storage... How many of you that have been in the military have gaping holes in your records?

No one has come forward who remembers serving with Bush in Alabama.

Bush was photographed wearing a ribbon he did not earn. The records he has provided do not indicate such a ribbon, and his dates of service and the known dates of the unit award do not correspond -- it appears he had no standing to wear the ribbon. Can he prove otherwise?

Bush and his surrogates try to parse Kerry's words down to the finest details (Christmas in Cambodia) using literalist interpretations, so let's parse some of his own statements: "I've been to war and raised twins..." Oh really? DO tell. "I continued flying with my unit for several years..." Oh really? I guess it depends on what the meaning of "several" is. Like, does it mean ZERO? Or some small fraction of 1? And when did you stop flying with your unit, Mr. pResident? The records seem to indicate it was after you failed to show up for a required physical... How about "Lucky me, I hit the trifecta". Show the clip so you can see him smirking when he says it. Or how about "It's been a fabulous year for me and Laura". Again, show him saying it. And in both of these cases... Don't ask him / their side what he meant by those statements; rather, put them out there *and put our own spin on it*. Sure we'll be accused of twisting their meaning. Too damn bad, they're the ones who have made it an art form. At this point we need to beat them at their own game.

10. Damn good points
Two 10-second ads with HUH? at the end...

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
— George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

"Tribal sovereignty means that; it's sovereign. I mean, you're a, you've been given sovereignty, and you're viewed as a sovereign entity. And therefore the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities."
— George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Aug. 6, 2004

11. Tad Devine came close.
He was on with judy woof-woof after chimpy hid at the pig farm, too skeered to face a triple amputee in a wheelchair. judy asked him why Kerry sent Max if he wanted to put the swift liars behind him. Devine responded, "judy, george bush started this fight, but John Kerry is going to finish it."

Discussion of chimpy's "heroic" career in the military is far from over, IMHO. Nope, we're just gettin' started.

2. Right--If Kerry doesn't do it, we should
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 10:29 AM by rocknation
But since Bush refuses to condemn the Smear-Boat Liars, Kerry CAN--and with a clear conscience.

5. I Couldn't Agree More! Take off the gloves
and show this country full of stupid people who drink the Bush Kool-Aid what a coward, phoney, idiotic and mean person that Bush really is.

6. It's not an AWOL bomb.
It's a Deserter Bomb.

Google "Paul Lukasiak". All will be revealed.

7. AWOL Deserter...
Two of the scariest words bouncing around Rove's head.

8. Commercial idea: Ask US soldiers who served in Iraq about soldiers who...
...went AWOL.

Here's the ad:

Interview soldiers who have served in Iraq recently what they think about someone who is AWOL. Interview Vietnam vets and ask what they think. Ask Korean vets. Ask WWII vets.

There would be three questions and three ads

Question one:
What do you think of a soldier who leaves his post and is AWOL?

Question two:
What do you think of a soldier who wears medals in a photo that he did not earn?

Question three:
Should a soldier who was AWOL attack another soldier's earned war medals?

Each commercial would have the same clip of Bush in his flight suit with text and a voiceover with:
"No one has come forward to prove that Bush served between April 1972 to May 1973."

"Bush should prove to the American people that he wasn't AWOL".
