How do you counter this strategy by Bush and Rove ??
If their plan is to let Dubya remain positive and "uniting" from the Convention forward, while his surrogates rape and pillage, slash and burn John Kerry? Which I believe is gonna be their strategy. George will come out of NYC as a new fuzzy and warm "compassionate conservative." His main concern is to protect our nation. He doesn't have time for all the "negative" politics. How do you counter? Are Kerry's surrogates ready for the challenge?

2. Remind people of the close links between Bush and the Smear Vets et al

I think it doesn't take much effort to get people over the rolling resistance to the idea that Bush is connected to those people.

Money+Texas+"Gore'ing" the Dems = Bush being held culpable

Bush trying to frame this as an issue of "527s gone wild" shows how he wants to unlink himself from the lies.

3. "Positive"? Please. Bush has been anything but.
He's bashed Kerry in every single one of his campaign ads, except perhaps that horrible olypics ad. He's only "positive" because the media spins him that way.

4. they have to repeatedly point out this discrepancy
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 10:31 AM by Cocoa
it should be the main theme of all their responses: Bush's stealth agenda.

It should be easy to do, just contrast the GOP platform against the prime time speakers. With enough repetition and consistency, the hypocrisy should become clear.

5. I think Carville is warming up in the bullpen.
In the meantime...

"The number of Americans living in poverty jumped to 35.9 million last year, up by 1.3 million, while the number of those without health care insurance rose to 45 million from 43.6 million in 2002, the U.S. government said in a report Thursday.

"The pace of economic growth was slower in the second quarter than originally estimated, the government said Friday... "It does indicate that the second quarter was a disappointing quarter," Economy.com Chief Economist Mark Zandi told Reuters.

6. With the corrupt media in their pockets they don't need a "strategy".
Just watch what the TV news is doing to Kerry. There will be no negative news on Bush, and nothing but negative news on Kerry. Just like the Bush-Gore contest.
