To the editor:
It was with a great deal of admiration and respect that I read the letter from Walter Hill as he wrote of serving in Vietnam and those friends he served with that sadly have passed away. These men forged friendships on the field of battle, which I believe creates bonds like no other. To serve with honor under the most trying of circumstances takes special men and I salute Mr. Hill and for the first time I agree with him. John Kerry's Swift Boat and Vietnam service is a red herring serving only to direct attention from where it should be. Our attention should be on Kerry's 20 years of service in the United States Senate rather than an obscure four months in Vietnam 35 years ago. We should find out how he can justify vote after vote against technological advances for our military and intelligence agencies. We need to know how he justifies the votes to raise taxes again and again. We need to know why no major piece of legislation carries his name after 20 years of service. What I really want to know is how did he or anyone manage to have a voting record judged as the most liberal in the Senate, surpassing even Teddy Kennedy. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Mr. Hill.
