Bristol Palin's Baby Daddy

Doe-eyed Bristol Palin, 17, and ruggedly handsome Levi Johnston, 18, have been dating for about a year, locals in their hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, told the Daily News...

..."They've been together quite a while, more than a year," she said. "I hope everything comes out well. These are local kids."

Johnston, broadchested and wearing a No. 15 jersey, can be seen in photographs hitting the boards as a Warrior in action.

A closeup shot shows the handsome teen with a light dusting of whiskers on his chin - his dark brown hair curly and wet.

"Levi has got huge potential," Jennie Johnston said. "He's a smart kid."

1. Hope you didn't have any future plans, Dad.
Unprotected sex with a pro-lifer is a form of suicide.

4. Or just a dead end! Which seems to be the case here!
What are the job opportunities in the Palin's little town--IF mom-in-law doesn't make V.P. of the U.S.?

16. Oh please.
Did you seriously just claim that having a baby is a form of suicide? I'm GLAD that I have a baby. How is that a form of suicide?

23. An unintended, undesired baby at 18? Yeah.
Every plan you had for your life is gone, and you now must live, for the rest of your time on Earth, a life you in no way wanted.

31. We apparantly have a different concept of what child birth is
I can see it being inconvenient to have a child before one is ready, but come on, every plan you had for your life is gone? What plans are off the table, exactly? Can unwed parents go to college and get a degree? I don't see why not, ESPECIALLY with the money the Palin's seem to have. Didn't I hear that they own 3 houses?

If his life stands to be ruined THAT MUCH by having a kid, as I understand it, his only LEGAL requirement is to provide child support. So instead of going out and buying a new snow-mobile or 4x4 pickup truck, now he has to send enough money to Bristol Palin cover expenses for a child for 18 years. That hardly seems like it's worth ending your life over.

2. "I don't want kids". This is what abstinence education accomplishes:
kids who don't want kids having kids.

11. Knowledge doesn't come from a vacuum.
This kid, like Bristol, was probably raised in ignorance and fear. I have great sympathy for them both.

But not as much sympathy as I have if Bristol's mother is put into a position to enforce her ignorant views on all of us. We need to discuss this sad situation and learn from it.

20. Quit your bitchin and complain to the NY Daily News
Or maybe Sarah Palin for bringing it upon her kids. It's a political message board in support of Democratic candidates.

We're getting scolded for bringing up stories reported in mainstream news sources.

WTF?!?!

24. DOBs appear to be: Levi: 5/3/90, Bristol: 10/18/90
So 18 and 17 are their current ages; ages at conception: either 17/17 (official story) or, if Trig is theirs, 17/16, by my calc.

8. No college for him
get a job, daddy. Or will they let welfare pay for the prenatal and delivery then get married. I've known fundies like that. They trash any type of public assistance until one of their kids gets in trouble. Wonder what Dr. Laura will have to say about all this tomorrow?

32. He graduated from high school in June.
The Daily News article does not indicate his plans or his current occupation.

His internet site gives no clue on future plans, but the content isn't exactly erudite.

Who knows, though. Maybe he has a hockey scholarship.

13. More from his MySpace page:
On his MySpace page, Johnston boasts, "I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.

"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."

"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick ass," he added.

He also claims to be "in a relationship," but states, "I don't want kids."

Oops, sorry, too late. Not exactly contributing much of quality to the gene pool, either.

14. Daily News reports that his internet site says that he doesn't want children.
Says he has a girlfriend, but not that he's engaged.

Daily News also says that Bristol was transferred out of her local high school to one in Anchorage in the middle of the year.

My guess is that things were getting hot between the two of them, and the Palins tried to put some distance between them.

Didn't work.

I'll be surprised if Bristol & Levi actually marry.

I really feel sorry for this girl having her problems in all the news outlets in the country. It really does make me wonder why Palin, if she's such a star, couldn't wait for another election cycle or two before going national so her daughter could be out of the national limelight.

17. I may be blasted for saying this, but Arianna is a hypocrite.
JUST this morning I saw HER pooh-pooing "all this Palin baby stuff", and bragging about how HuffingtonPost was staying AWAY from the whole thing because there was "nothing there"..

Way to Go, Arianna...back away from it, UNTIL many webbies get done doing the research and following all those mack-truck-sized bread crumbs that YOU were too "good" to care about, and once enough pressure gets applied to get this mess noticed, NOW you're all over it..

The really odd thing is this.. If this was so EASY for us to find out about..what is REALLY hidden about Princess Pheromone of the Yukon??

22. This needs to remain a backdrop to TrooperGate now
If little bits keep coming up every day National Enquirer-style, it'll keep the theme of hypocrisy, lies, and incompetence going while the meatier scandals come up.

Layered, sorta. It keeps the point in the public's subconscious.

28.  I feel bad for both these kids.
However this plays out - and we all have a pretty good idea of how that's going - these kids are going to have it rough. I don't care who your parents are, that is no age to have a kid. You can talk responsibility and such if you like, but honestly, the penalty is far out of proportion to any transgression, don't you think? Aren't the consequences a little too severe for what they did, which is what most people do or have done or at least want to do?

Getting married isn't the answer. I've seen that happen too often - "doing the right thing" is rarely the right thing, if you ask me. Many a life has been ruined on this road.

Sorry to bring everyone down with that... but seriously, go easy on both of them. It's bad enough for them as it is.
