Traditionally, such choices are made to "balance the ticket". That frequently resulted in either "empty suit" VPs, or all but openly hostile ones. But these two guys REALLY look to the best of pals! One can easily imagine Joe effortlessly completing a sentence of Obama's.

24. The majority of folks that run for office do so with all good intentions

Sure, there are those that want just the power and money that can go with the job if you "play things" right, but most have dreams of doing the right thing, of doing what they can do to make the nation better and to help people.

Biden was one of these elected officials, but over the years it has become harder and harder to do for the people, to do what is needed to help citizens and the nation. I would imagine it has become tiring and frustrating to hold office these days, as a dem when there was no dem majority and now with the thin majority we have now.

But Obama has given hope and made folks, like Biden and Kennedy, believe that they can make a difference again, that they can change things for the better and help folks. You can see it in their eyes and in the eyes of their loved ones, how they sparkle with the dream, how their hearts seem lighter and they have a new enthusian.

This "hope" that Obama has restored is not some mystic, preacher thing, not some cult leader to his followers. It is a man opening up doors, asking others to help him open up the doors, lift the windows to let the air in and reminding others how damned important they are to the process. "We are the change we've been looking for" is not some corny chant, some kooky political phrase, it is a truism and Obama has helped many realize the simple truism. He taps into the best of us and in so doing, he helps us restore ourselves and we can restore our nation.

I'm just loving this, and I think the media who has always liked and respected Joe, and Clinton, saw our well-run convention and decided they were more comfortable and resigned to the inevitability of this. Or it would be too difficult to hold back the tide now. Even the POW meme has suffered.

They are a wonderful team. It's good to see them both laughing, seeming to really be having a good time, and enjoying the experience! It has to help their campaign, by keeping some of the stress levels down.
