SHE'S NOT GOING TO DROP OUT!
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 12:36 PM by bidenista
What is it with all these "gone by Wednesday/Thursday/Friday" posts about Palin? Are you people serious? Unless she's found to have murdered someone with one of her purdy guns, or to have sold nuclear secrets to North Korea, there is NO WAY they are going to drop Palin. It would mean almost definite loss of the General, as anyone who remembers the Eagleton saga should be able to see.

Anyway, this is the same party that sends people to die to find weapons that they then joke never existed. They don't have shame, they don't step down. And the top of their ticket is by all accounts stubborn as hell.

I still think it's a waste of time focusing on her instead of McCain, but don't hold back because you think she's going. She's not.

1. It's a Possible Loss Against a Guaranteed Loss
Obama is the one benefitting from her nomination, not McCain.

Keeps the Repubs miserable and shrill.

3. I don't think she's going
but I'd like to see her go. It's all bad for McCain either way.

6. Like Lieberman or Tom Ridge?
Like McCain wanted to start with?

He's stuck with Palin - she's the only thing thats keeping the hoodwinked "base" of fundies intact right now. There's no good option for Johnny right now - it's sink or swim with Palin and all of her dead weight.

7. Really? Intrade Prediction market is already selling her removal prediciton
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/prediction-market-starts_n_123136.html

The Intrade prediction market has opened trading on whether "Sarah Palin to be withdrawn as Republican VP nominee before 2008 presidential election." At 8:55 am, Tuesday morning, the market is selling the prediction at 18 a share and rising. That means 18 percent of traders think there is a chance that Palin will be removed from the ticket.

Intrade predicted Joe Biden would be Barack Obama's running mate in August and its traders were also correct about every Senate race in 2006. It fell flat in predicting a Democratic majority.

Keep checking back through out the day for updates on the trading numbers.

8. Not only is she staying, she should not be underestimated
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 12:27 PM by MindMatter
Once McCain can get past this week, he has the game more on his own terms. The media concentration in Minneapolis is the worst case scenario for a poorly vetted candidate. But after this week, the concentration weakens. The only time after this week there is a lot of attention on her is the Biden debate. She probably gets hit pretty hard that night, but the other 60 days could be good ones for her.

10. bzzzt. if, over the next 10 days or so, damaging info continues
to spill out about Madame Palin. If she stumbles, if the ticket continues to lose traction in the polls, they'll find a way to get rid of her. Think Eagleton.

12. Actually if there is enough of a shitstorm
she may not even make it to Wednesday. I don't have a crystal ball, like you do, so I can only guess what might happen. What might happen is a precipitous plummet in poll numbers, an unmissable outcry from the blogosphere, and massive enough discontent within the RNC, such that the corporatemedia cannot keep a lid on it and the decision is made to cut the losses. We factor into that equation by our ability to make noise.

17. I think focusing on her is VERY smart.
People are wary of her. Republicans are wary of her for specific reasons. They like a conservative woman, but not with too much executive power. This makes McCain look bad. As long as certain lines are not crossed, this is the perfect issue.

18. Good
She is going to change the language. No longer will one refer to "having an albatross around his neck", it will be replaced by "having Sarah Palin as a running mate".

THEN, when it's too late to remove the ticket from the ballot, let the KO punches fly.

These are the people who got dumbass Bush TWO terms in office.

At the end of the day, they'll get an assist from the MSM where a Democrat really would have been toast.
