Sarah Palin's Choices For Your Children
Bristol Palin could have ended up with HIV/AIDS instead of a baby. That's the bottom line of Sarah Palin's policies. I have every right to discuss her social and political views when she wants every child to live with the same choices she gave her daughter. Was her daughter taught that birth control pills and IUDs are abortion? Was her daughter taught that contraception was a sin? Was she taught that condoms don't work? Do you want your daughter to be forced to carry a pregnancy?

That's what this is about. I live in small town America and believe me, there is very little stigma attached to unwed mothers these days. I think there are more unwed mothers in my town than married ones. It's about a 24 hour jabberfest, especially if the parent has been holier-than-thou, but then everybody rallies around and it's just another new baby in the community. So Bristol's pregnancy isn't an issue and shouldn't be.

But the laws Sarah Palin would choose to pass, that would make all these choices for your child, that's what is important. We have every right to vigorously debate and oppose her view of America. She is dangerous on so many levels and this is one that everybody can immediately relate to.

2. It is clear that the right wants to make our choices for us.
And that is where it gets sticky.

3. another small towner here. I remember when you just didn't acknowledge out of
wedlock babies, no one of any social standing would give the mother a baby shower and the couple nearly always got married the minute the pregnancy was discovered. I had many friends and a couple of cousins that this happened to.

Now even in small town Kentucky it is so much less of an issue.

you are so right on so many levels. We have the responsibility to educate our children about more than just how to not have babies ..STDs, emotional and economic fallout are also part of this package.

I don't want an old man in a black robe, a narrow minded fundamentalist, or my own broadminded mother making these decisions for me. They are mine to make, my daughter's to make, my sisters' to make, my nieces to make. No one elses'
