45. gosh this has only just started. are we gonna do this with each event
if this isnt feeding repugs with what they want. what happens happens. and we will deal with. but this is not indicitive of dems or election, it is a protest with anger.

dem convention we allowed all to say, be nice to bush. no bush bashing. havent done the same with repug convention. now we have allowed repug and media to say to protestors anything happens bad you. be peace. that is only thing allowed be peace

well peace may not happen. tough shit. we deal with

but i really dont want to come onto board and with every angry reaction hear a bunch of people say

oh no that isnt good

uh oh we are in trouble

oh no sky is falling in

enough, dont fall into their line

17. There was a giant dragon float riding down the street
and all the sudden the pulled away from the shot and then back and the dragon was on fire. Completely set ablaze in the middle of the street. Now it's extinguished and the parade is at a stand still.

29. They need to investigate, why would they burn their own float
in the middle of a parade. I think it could have been counter protesters.

Anyway I doubt something this random is going to be covered that much, it's not like the float ran into a building and torched an entire block.

Protests today in NYC, police made some 50 arrests and there was some anxious moments when a fire erupted in the middle of the parade.

Meanwhile, President * was on the campaign trail today . . .

37. No big deal
No one was hurt, firemen got to it quickly, tempest in a teapot.

Of course, MSNBC didn't have a clue what was going on, their reporter on the street was doing her best to stir up a little "panic" "they have no idea where the smoke is coming from," commentator said they would try to find out was the problem is, yadda, yadda, yadda. Already seeing drama where none exists. Good for ratings, tho.

"They are now getting things under control." Good grief, 53 arrests out of a half a million?

Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 02:10 PM by TheWebHead
Republicans have regularly defunded the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and this defective dragon is the latest example of Republicans letting manufacturers put out defective and dangerous products. :)

Consumer Product Safety. Didn't Clinton sign a bill to upgrade the safety of products and Bush reversed it as soon as he got into office?

42. My totally uninformed guess: Flammable glue, a tossed cigarette that
still was lit, and plenty of paper for fuel is the most likely explanation.

My question is, who would toss a lit cigarette at a protestors' float?
