Congressman Frank Pallone (on Palin and AIP): Treason

Treason

This is an extraordinary indictment of Sarah Palin by Rep. Frank Pallone, and he calls it straight. - promoted by Rosi

Many in the chattering class have been talking about Governor Sarah Palin's qualifications to be Vice President to the 72-year-old Republican nominee for president, John McCain (the oldest to ever take office). It does not matter to me that her daughter is pregnant or that her husband received a D.U.I. nearly 30 years ago. All families go through struggles in their personal lives and should be able to do so with a level of privacy and respect.

What is important to me, however, is that in the previous decade she was a member of a political party - the Alaskan Independence Party - that advocated a vote that would allow the secession of Alaska from the United States of America.

In a message to Congress on July 4, 1861, President Abraham Lincoln said about attempts by the Southern States to secede that, "the States have their status in the Union, and they have no other legal status. If they break from this they can only do so against law and by revolution."

Allowing the potential Vice President of the United States, next in line to the presidency of our republic, to be someone that believes states have a legal right to secede from our union would be akin to allowing a member of the Parti Québécois to become Prime Minister of Canada or a Scottish National Party member to become Prime Minster of the United Kingdom.

While it may sound alarmist and overly dramatic, as someone who has sworn an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic," I find it extremely troubling that the country Ms. Palin would presume to lead as next in line to the Presidency, apparently wasn't good enough for her to be a part of. It is this, more than anything else, which speaks to her lack of qualification to be Vice President of the United States.

Ouch! He hit it right on the head. Thanks, Rep. Pallone!

1. Yep
That's where the focus ought to be.

The book banning stuff and lawsuits should be secondary.

You cannot be Vice President of a nation you do not want to be a member of.

9. I think she is not eligible for Top Security Clearance
because of this allegiance to AIP. How can the country have a VP with no top security clearance???

I can't believe all this is happening. It's nuts!!!

11. Exactly! I doubt she could get top security clearance
Her recorded membership, even if it's for only 2-3 years, would restrict her ability to gain top level security clearance.

17. Hey she just wants to be in charge of a country, Alaska or the US
and well Alaska was so yesterday, and pretty damn small when compared to having the other 49 states as a bonus!

18. PLEASE RECOMMEND THIS TO THE TOP NOW!!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.. THIS IS THE STORY TO PUSH NOW!!
Sarah Palin and her husband Todd were members of the pro-secessionist Alaskan Independence Party, attended their 1994 convention and addressed their 2008 convention. Todd, her husband only changed his membership from AIP to Republican in 2002. These are also facts supported by multiple credible sources:
