1. I remember that, seemed like it was over at the time
but Gore closed pretty quickly, and he did end up winning. But the 2000 Bush looks easier to beat than the 04 version.

2. It's a shame our convention wasn't second instead of first
but the incumbent party traditionally has their convention second. I think Bush will have a bounce but it will be nothing like 17 points.

4. Wary of precedent in this year, can't expect bounces
Bush has polarized the US like no other, intentionally driving a wedge between us. I believe the polls showing that most have already made up minds and high degrees of certainty. Given that, Bush is not going to succeed in his current strategy of going back to the fraud of being a moderate conservative of some intelligence that carried him through the last election. He can't just appear with other people and hope that their endorsement keeps people from looking hard at his faults. He has a record. He can't get a bounce becaue there are no new lies to tell.

5. Bush is already getting a bounce going into his convention
the media will make sure he gets a bounce coming out. I think he will be up by five points or so.

7. Let's not count our chickens until the post convention polls come out
We'll see what the media decides about a Bush bounce.

I find it hard to believe that the media will allow Bush to come out of the convention without at least a 5% bounce, maybe more.

Hopefully he won't get anything, but remember that the pro-Bush media controls the polls.
