Could Kerry admit he made a mistake on the IWR?
In hindsight, it was probably a mistake to give the president the authority for war. Many senators, including myself, thought from previous experience that Saddam would need to see the threat was real before he would permit the inspectors to do a thorough job. We were told by the Bush Administration that he needed this authority, along with the UN resolution, to show that we had resolve. As we now know, the president invaded Iraq preemptively and did not give the inspectors time to do their job. We were even told they knew where the WMDs were. Of course, in hindsight, they were lying to the Senate and to the American people. I believe in a strong executive and do not think we should tie the hands of our Commander in Chief, but in this case, we would all have been better off if we had put handcuffs on George W Bush. In hindsight, I made a mistake. Call me a flip-flopper if you wish but I'm willing to admit my mistakes. Naw! Never mind! :)

1. It was a mistake to trust George Bush with the power to go to war...
It was like giving a four year-old a loaded pistol.

4. What if he stays the course in Iraq
as he has said he will?

A broader question is, can Kerry admit he made a mistake? Bush is incapable of taking responsibility for his actions and admit he made a mistake. Until the day he died, Nixon was unable to admit he did anything wrong on Watergate.

5. Not now, it's WAY TOO LATE!
One step in that direction now and the flip-flop tag will stick like glue. He screwed up, but he'd better just stick with it.

Changing positions now would be the worst mistake imaginable.

6. Hillary Clinton had a much better answer to this question, broadcast
today:

If we knew then what we know now, there would have BEEN NO IWR! There's no way any Congressional majority could have been envisioned or requested for a US go-it-alone invasion based on lies about WMDs and lies about how GIs would be welcomed with flowers!

7. Up until the time he said:
If I knew then, what I know now.....I would vote yes.

Face it, he voted for IWR because he was running for Prez.

He voted against funding, because the war had gotten unpopular.

Now he is stuck.

Whatever he says, sounds wrong, because it is wrong.
