What if McCain/Palin actually win???
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 04:44 PM by Cyrano
Assuming that Palin is still on the McCain ticket by the end of this week, what if these two actually win (or the election is, once again, stolen)?

My only reaction to this is the title of an old Broadway show -- "Stop The World, I Want To Get Off." Even American voters couldn't be this stupid, could they?

What would sane Americans do if these people end up in control of the most powerful arsenal in the history of the world? Move to another country? What country on this small planet would be safe from a man whose judgment is virtually non-existent and this really scary woman?

As much as I believe that Obama/Biden are going to win the biggest landslide in American history, there's this nagging fear in my mind that the GOP could actually win/steal it again.

Please, someone out there convince me that this insane scenario couldn't possibly happen.

These fundy creeps want Armageddon to happen so bad, they'll do anything to make it so. Nothing will stand in their way.

I suppose the only thing we can do, is make sure the vote spread is wide enough it CAN'T be stolen again.

"All politics is local." I would probably, at this age, give up on national politics. For sure, I would try to get the hell out of where I live now (DC area). Unsafe immediately with McCain-Palin having their fingers on the nuclear trigger.

Realistically, I have another five years before I could make the move. By then, I am afraid it would be too late.

But you know, Obama is running a good campaign. He's running a better campaign than Gore or Kerry, and I think he understands better than they did how the GOP plays, and what to do about it. so it's not all bad.

Apparently a lot of voters are that "stupid" look at the following Barack has.

What has he done where is his experience at?

Great motivational speaker but what is going to do for my family?

Can I count on him to protect me or will he talk them to death?

Come on people convince this fence rider to vote for your guy.

18. If you can't see the difference between McCain and Obama
then I can't help you. Are you rich? The only reason to vote for McCain is if you're a billionaire. Do you have any sons or daughters of draft age? Then you can expect them to be deployed to our new war with Iran. I could go on and on, but I have a feeling it may not be worth it.

54. How about judgement?
The running mate is the first official choice a presidential nominee makes. Obama chooses someone he knows well - a friend and colleague who is ultra-competent to take over the executive branch if required. McCain chose someone whom he met only once, who was two years ago the mayor of a small Alaskan village, who only two weeks ago wasn't sure what the vice-president's job was.

But why am I bothering to respond? You'll be banned by the time I hit the "Post Message" button.

In this case, I can't even make my mind go there. I can't do it. The very notion of it makes me feel so incredibly despondent and hopeless, that's where my brain just shuts down. I fear I truly will give up, completely. Stop caring. Never pay attention again. Fuck it.

66. The Obama campaign and the Democratic Party can make zero excuses if they lose this election
McCain is running a campaign that states that he wants to continue the agenda of the most hated US president of all time. If the Obama campaign can not find a way to beat that, well they do not deserve to win. It is that simple. Regarding rigged elections, the Democratic Party controls Congress and more state governments than they did in 2004 so there is no excuse regarding that either.

The concern I have is that they will not do enough to point out that McCain = Bush. And they might not do enough to distinguish themselves from McCain as they seek "centrist voters" (i.e. lobbyists' money).

Some of the Brits here may disagree, but I imagine that Britain will be better under a McCain presidency than the US will be. It's time to strap up. A well armed populace is the greatest deterrent to tyranny.
If the Afghans can hold off Soviets for years and a mob in Iraq can kill over 4,000 of the best trained and equipped in the world then we can go toe to toe. Not to mention our troops will in large part join us.

Let's elect Barack Obama President to stem this evil tide.
