A book about Annapolis grads detailed McCain's illustrious career as a pilot. The first three were the result of his own incompetence (though number 3 is iffy too). Number 4 wasn't his fault, his plane was just in the way of an accidentally fired missile on the deck of a carrier while he was preparing to take off (the missile could have just as easily hit someone else's plane or even just flew off the deck and harmlessly into the sea) and the fifth one was the one he got shot down in. Of course, the total should have been zero; he should never have been a pilot in the first place.
