Watching the C-SPAN coverage of the protest march....
I didn't see hardly any VOTE KERRY/EDWARDS signs......a few, but mostly it was anti * signs. Should there have been more vote K/E signs??? Saw the "green party" group, and the Nader/Cameijo (sp) signs, but not ANY vote Kerry/Edwards group.

1. It was a PROTEST march, not a CAMPAIGN march

I didn't know that, and you're right it should be a turnout of how much * is going down the wrong path. Thank you.

2. could you imagine the media spin
if it was perceived to be a pro-Kerry march? It would also be a little gauche in my opinion.I think the focus was perfect anti war/Bush/Fox

21. I'm with ya SoFlaJet.....
it shouldn't be a pro Kerry/Edwards rally. The focus should be how much * is not taking us in the right direction.

25. My user name is a kennedy,
that's because my name is Colleen A. Kennedy, and I thought "a kennedy" would be appropriate on a liberal and democratic website. Is there anything wrong with that???

4. noticed that too
did you hear the call-ins afterward? even without Kerry signs a guy said seeing the rainbow flags and hearing profanity had made him want to lean toward Bush.

what an idiot! there are no other pressing issues or important things going on in our country or the world so i'm voting based on rainbow flags. AARRGGH!!!

6. God I'm glad there weren't hardly any
as you said. This wasn't a Kerry-Edwards rally. It is a PROTEST OF BUSH and his MISADMINISTRATION.

After all, the RNC is being held there. Duh.

concerned with their own agendas. They really only share one thing: remove the turd from office.

What's the problem with that, anyhow???

something, can't put my finger on it, but it's familiar...

9. Not a Kerry/Edwards march, a protesting Bush march.
Therefore, no K/E signs.

My understanding, the DNC is not associated with the protesters at all. That way dems don't get blamed if the protesters get up to some naughtiness. We hope. The B/C folks will try to pin it on us regardless, the lying scum.

12. Those on DU who were whining that the protest would hurt Kerry
seemed not to see that the protest was never about Kerry. It was planned the day Bush arrogantly chose to inflict the RNC on NYC. That was way before Kerry was even the Dem's frontrunner. It had nothing to do with him.

This was a fight between Bush and his subjects. Between lies and truth.

Election Day will be about Kerry.

28. Well it is also a fight with the media who have a tendency
to put everything in a pro-Bush light. My fear is that anything negative that happens, the media will sensationalize it, blame it on Kerry.

I thought the coverage of the protest was great, really put a ding into the opening coverage of the RNC convention. I am so happy to have been wrong. But the week is young, still many opportunities for mis-step.

Look, I am a citizen of a red state. Trust me when I say people here really don't like bush. They are also VERY conservative. Leading them to Kerry is like leading a skittish horse into a new environment. Gently, gently and no fast movements but it can be done. Call me the Republican whisperer. But too many images of people with Fuck Bush tee shirts will freak them out, send them right back to repug fold. So I don't see how my concern qualifies as whining. Just trying to put a red state perspective on the issue.

17. If there would have been Kerry signs it wouldn't have been a Bush protest
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 05:47 PM by Bushneedstogo
It's a protest against Bush and the repubs not a vote Kerry/Edwards march.

Our party has so much talent in creativity and most of the sign were hand made not manufactured by the RNC.

One thing that the republicans lack is a creative talent and that's why you spot one every time you encounter one. :hi:

27. I have no idea. I probably caught less of the thing than you did.

But that's a great picture.

There are several people here who participated, I'm sure one of them can answer that question.

Whoever it was, in general, It seems like the whole thing was oranized rather flawlessly. Appears to have come off without any major hitches.
