The Battle is OURS to Win or Lose! On Some Fronts Kerry Cannot Fight.
We have placed our bet on John Forbes Kerry, a man who perhaps uniquely in our time carries all the qualities that marks greatness. It is a bet that we can't afford to lose, for in this contest it is winner takes all.

Kerry will likely not tell us what we want to hear. He is too much of an aristocrat to say to Bush the things that should be said. His campaign is over-stuffed with bureaucrats who couldn’t respond fiercely to a vicious attack if their life depended on it.

But, John Kerry is still the best stealth candidate for the presidency the Democrats have had for the last half century.

John Kerry, alone among his peers, has been able to maintain the image of moderation even though in vote after vote he has persistently and arrogantly supported progressive causes.

In a time of war and strife which would usually favor the Republican, it is John Kerry who carries the record of honor and valor in service to country that can survive the most withering attack.

Kerry has fought the good fight for much of his life. Now he is in a battle that he cannot win alone. It is vicious, dirty, treacherous and perverse. And Kerry cannot fight in the gutter.

It in now time for the rest of the progressive forces to rally, forget about what Kerry can do for us, and do whatever it takes to win back our country from the barbarians in power, for the sake of our constitution, our planet, ourselves, our children and our children’s children.

29. He said it today...
"I was in a fighting mood yesterday, today I'm tired and resting."

Feel better now?

3. I truly believe that there is a LOT more at stake than just
an election for President.

We face a set of decisions that will affect the planet for the
foreseeable future.

1. Global Warming - We must address it now, it may be too late, but
if we collectively stick our heads in the sand, even for just 4 more
years, irreparable damage will be done.

2. Future of Energy - The world's current population depends on
cheap oil. If not for cheap oil the industrialized economies would
NOT be able to not only feed themselves but also come to the aid
of underdeveloped nations when famine strikes (either a natural
weather cycle, induced cycle due to mans interference, or a disaster).
Cheap oil is going away, and relatively soon. We can either try
to corner the market on the remaining amount, or push NOW to move
in a different direction.

3. Debt - The US is facing a huge runup in the debt of the nation.
It's already many thousands of dollars for every man, woman, and
child in the US. We must change the priorities of government,
increase revenues and cut expenditures... and reduce the debt.

4. Water - Fresh, drinkable water will soon be an environmental
issue like no other on earth. If we start NOW we can head off
this impending disaster for mankind.

5. War - We need to work hard and lead by example, the imperial
boot grinding down the masses has never worked throughout history,
and it won't work for us either. We can spread democracy through
the world, but not at the point of a spear. I think we are closer
than ever, even the Cuban missile crises, to a WMD disaster.

5. Don't forget the Supreme Court
Whoever wins this election will probably nominate some new justices. That will have an affect on our country for the next 40 years.

all the freedoms we cherish.

10. 6. The Supreme Court
Don't forget that important third branch of government. Several of the justices are making some noise about retirement. This administration has basically made this Supreme Court inconsequential but there is hope for a realignment and for a separation of the three branches of government, per the Constitution, with this election.

It's not enough to get rid of Bush, we have to win back the House and the Senate, and conversely, the federal judgeships and the Supreme Court. Balance is the key between the spheres of government but it is going to take a majority in the two of the branches to get back to the separation of powers again and a decisive Supreme Court.

11. Yes. Supreme court.

Long term negative social impact.

Also, continued eroding of personal freedoms. US will no longer
be "land of the free, home of the brave" if we allow Shrub
to steal another election.

defending their votes for Nader, saying "Kerry didn't do X" and or, "Kerry deserved to lose after his lackluster campaign"

In other words, they'll blame the victim, just like they did with Gore.

:eyes:

The decision to vote in this campaign is a serious one and peoples LIVES will depend on it. It's OUR job to win this battle as MUCH as it is John Kerry's.

I do think need some people fighting in the gutter though, because gutters have to be fought in, when your fighting with the filthy likes of Karl Rove.

13. This is test time for Kerry--he either takes over this campaign and
kicks these zeros on his campaign staff out the door OR shakes them up and TELLS THEM what he wants to accomplish and write the speeches, etc. accordingly. His staff is nothing but an echo of the silent goddamn Dems who sat with their fingers up their asses for 3 and 1/2 years and didn't say "boo" about Bush. People like Dean got us riled up and these others had to go along. They are now fading steadily back to silence. Time for the rank and file to tell them if they do this again they will have no support next time around.

22. Going to contact MoveOn: Forget the Cutesy Ads for now. Roll SwiftResponse
until the specific numbers re "trust as Commander in Chief" and
Vet support change back to pre-SwiftSmear levels.

We know, Rove knows, that if we fix that one area, we win.

but his campaign dumbos told him not to.

Is this for real. Does anyone know?

26. Estrich has it right, but Dems were not prepared with Rebutal anyway.
Part of the problem of depending on the Independents but not
able to coordinate. RNC should probably have been ones to roll
out a counter-offensive immediately, but were taken off guard.
